🐢 Kuroshima Research Institute: Filled with the charm of Kuroshima's ocean and creatures
Located on Kuroshima Island in Taketomi-cho, Yaeyama-gun, Okinawa Prefecture, the Kuroshima Research Institute is a research facility run by the NPO Sea Turtle Association of Japan, and mainly conducts research on marine life such as sea turtles and coral. Inside the facility, sea turtles, sharks, coconut crabs, vipers and other creatures are bred and exhibited, and coral and shell specimens, as well as local tools from the island are also on display. There are also rare exhibits, such as pieces of an H2A rocket that washed ashore from Tanegashima. By visiting, you can gain a deeper understanding of the nature and culture of Kuroshima.
