As big fans of Haidilao, we make it a point to try their branches wherever we travel — and this visit to their Vietnam outlet at Lotte Mall Tây Hồ was another one to tick off the list. This was our first time trying Haidilao in Vietnam, and we were pleasantly surprised by some regional differences. For example, certain broths like the crab soup aren’t available in Singapore, so we gave that a try alongside the classic mala hotpot. The crab broth had a sweet, light seafood note that was quite unique — something different but enjoyable. However, we did notice some key ingredient differences. Items commonly found in the Singapore menu like pork belly, liver, or kidneys weren’t available here, which slightly limited our usual order. The biggest challenge was the language barrier. Our server couldn’t speak English, and we don’t speak Vietnamese, so communication was minimal. This understandably impacted the usual high-touch service HDL is known for, though we still experienced the familiar noodle dance performance and cheerful birthday singing, which brought that signature HDL energy to the meal. #100waysoftravel A cafe with a rather confusing name “Lush Salon” If you just listen to the name, I think most people will think this is not a cafe. But this is not just a cafe but also a beautiful, classy and well-invested one. Lush Salon is located in the lobby of the 1st floor of the L7 West Lake Hanoi hotel, so it already has quite a luxurious vibe and view. The design is impressive, the interior is high-class and will be most sparkling at night. The shop is spacious, with 2 floors and the stairs to the 2nd floor are really beautiful. The menu includes cakes, bread, bingsu and drinks, priced from 70-100k. I tried kiwi and green grape bingsu, the interface is beautiful and there are 4 types of sauces and beans to eat with, 2 people 1 bowl is enough. Park your car at Lotte Mall parking lot and go to the hotel lobby for coffee!
