[2025 Austin ] Travel Guide for Lady Bird Lake Hike & Bike Trail (Updated Jul)

The 10-mile Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail can take you full circle around the shores of Lady Bird Lake, which gives you plenty of different terrains to get your body moving. It’s Austin’s most popular recreational destination, where you’ll find inspiration among other health-conscious Austinites running, walking, biking, pushing strollers, and walking their dogs. Everyone can enjoy the pretty views on these maintained paths. Besides being a great destination for exercise, it’s also a celebration of community spirit, with friendly faces ready to chat with you about your pups or kids, or just give a smile of encouragement as you’re off on your morning run.

It was a weekend short trip to Austin, Texas. Just to share some of the places that I have visited 🙌 We discovered Downtown Austin upon arrival. We visited the Texas State Capitol. It was built in 1888, the Texas State Capitol is a symbol of Texas pride and is taller than the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. We took a free guided tour of the building to explore the Texas Legislature, the rotunda, and the Senate and House of Representatives Chambers. 📍1100 Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78701 ⏰Open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. We also explored the Bullock Texas State History Museum. This museum presents the story of Texas through engaging exhibits, films, and artifacts. We explored interactive exhibits, watched a film in the IMAX theater, and visited the Texas Spirit Theater. It was a very fun experience 👍 📍1800 Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78701 ⏰Open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 💰 $13 for adults, $11 for seniors (65+), and $9 for children (4-17) We also explored the famous restaurant, Franklin Barbecue. We ordered their signature Brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and sausages. All the food were delicious and the service was excellent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 💰Approximately $25-35 per person 📍900 E 11th St, Austin, TX 78702 ⏰ Open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. until sold out We also strolled through the South Congress Avenue (SoCo). We Browsed through quirky shops, boutiques, and galleries, and took photos with the famous “I Love You So Much” mural ❤️. I would suggest you to go in the morning to prevent the queue. 📍South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704 We also visited Zilker Park and Barton Springs Pool. We were relaxing in Austin's most famous park. We walked around the Botanical Garden, and swim in the Barton Springs Pool, a natural spring-fed pool. It was very relaxing and we all loved it 😍 📍2201 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX 78746 ⏰Open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. 💰Free for Zilker Park; $5 for Barton Springs Pool We also visited Terry Black's BBQ. We tried out their signature Beef ribs, brisket, turkey, and mac and cheese. Mac and Cheese🧀 was lovely and it was the best in town 💯 💰Approximately $20-30 per person 📍 1003 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX 78704 ⏰ Open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. We also explored the Lady Bird Lake Hike-and-Bike Trail. We enjoyed walking, and biking along this scenic trail that loops around Lady Bird Lake. It offers a great views of downtown Austin, which was very worth to visit. 📍Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail, Austin, TX 78704 Last but not least, I would recommend you to check out Lenoir. They served mainly seasonal tasting menu, showcasing local produce and fresh ingredients. Always enjoy walking along Lady Bird lake watching all the many turtles sun bathing along the edge of the lake, it's nice to see all the people either jogging, walking or on scooters or even riding their bikes on the bike trail enjoying the beautiful view of the lake or the view of downtown Austin. Sometimes people in bikes are not careful you should be cautious so that they do not hit you, other than that this is a very nice and long trail to enjoy nature in the middle of Austin city. The view is always great so you never get bored. The whole trail is around the like. It's just an amazing place to run and relax. #summervacay Lady Bird Lake in Austin is a summer hotspot that combines city vibes with nature. I rented a kayak and paddled past the skyline, under bridges where bats sleep, and alongside paddleboarders and joggers. The Hike-and-Bike Trail was buzzing with energy—cyclists, dog walkers, and runners enjoying the breeze. The lush greenery and reflections on the water made it feel peaceful despite being in the heart of downtown. It’s one of those summer places that balances chill and adventure perfectly. #summervacay
