Lake Gregory is a reservoir in heart of the tea country hill city, Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka. It was constructed during the period of British Governor Sir William Gregory in 1873 in order to make more land available for the expansion of the town. We spent a leisure evening in Gregory Park located west of Lake Gregory. A small entrance fee to Gregory Park applies to foreigners. Other than taking a stroll or having a picnic in the park, you can also hire a speedboat or paddle boat to go out on the lake. You can even ride a horse in the park! There are several food stalls in the park selling local delicacies. We had a fun time exploring the lake by hiring swan-shaped pedal boats. My children also got to ride on a pony.
