Nowadays, it has morphed to become one of the key cultural sights in Vientiane and is located around a gorgeous little Laotian compound. Here you will find a typical wooden house which is filled with ancient weaving tools and looms, and there are also antique textiles here that represent the various ethnic groups in Laos. A local family used to run this modest museum, which is now home to the Kanchana Boutique. It has now evolved into one of Vientiane's most important cultural attractions, and is now centered on a lovely little Laotian complex. Although the museum is located far from the city center, I highly recommend paying a visit. It is privately owned by a family, I was greeted by Tina who accompanied me during the visit to explain to me the different textile techniques (and invited me to try some), the traditional costumes and the dyeing techniques.
