Explore Great Ocean Road in Australia
The Great Ocean Road is one of Australia’s most breathtaking coastal drives—an absolute must-do. The winding roads hug the cliffs, offering dramatic ocean views, lush rainforests, and iconic stops like the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, and the Great Otway National Park. Every turn feels like a postcard. There’s plenty to explore, from seaside towns like Lorne and Apollo Bay to hidden beaches and waterfalls. Best enjoyed over a couple of days if you can, though even a day trip is unforgettable. Be sure to start early, pack snacks, and give yourself time to soak in the scenery—it’s pure magic.

Australia's Great Ocean Road - A secret fjord like a movie scene: Ade Gorge
#naturalscape #100 ways to travel
A must-visit attraction on a day trip to Melbourne's Great Ocean Road, the Loch Ard Gorge is like a mysterious place in a movie. It was named in memory of the Loch Ard shipwreck that occurred here.
Adehu Gorge is also known as #shipwreckcoast. Due to strong waves erosion, the rock wall collapsed and formed a gap. After the seawater poured in, it continued to erode, and over time, an inner bay was dug out.
The sea water pours in from the gates formed by the tall cliffs on both sides, forming a deep blue emerald pool, forming a strange scene with a double wall surrounding it and a bay in the gorge.
With the fjord rock walls as the background, taking photos on the beach in the bay is particularly majestic! The Great Ocean Road itinerary of the one-day tour group will arrange the Adelaide Gorge and the adjacent #Twelve Apostles together, allowing tourists to enjoy the wonders of sea erosion and weathering.

It’s my first time visiting Melbourne, and I had a really great time in enjoying all sorts of fresh seafoods (🦀🦞🦐 and of course not mentioning the 🦪). You may check out the price from South Melbourne Market as I find it slightly cheaper than others.
The beef is so fresh in Australia and I would like to recommend ‘YOMG’ - Yo My Goodness to all, and the burger is super yum and very filling. The Best 🍔 burger I have had so far😋

Twelves Apostles - Victoria, Australia
The Twelves Apostles is a famous natural landmark along the Great Ocean Road in Australia. It’s a collection of limestone rock stacks that stand majestically off the southern coast of Australia.
Originally formed through erosion over millions of years. Due to relentless forces of wind & ocean waves, the softer limestone layers got eroded away, leaving behind the impressive stacks we see today.
The Twelves Apostles offer a breathtaking sight, especially during sunrise & sunset timing. There are several viewing platforms & walking trails to enhance the viewing experience here.
The Twelves Apostles are located within Port Campbell National Park, and is also walking distance to another landmark - Gibson Steps.

Dramatic views @ Loch Ard Gorge 🌟
You may have heard of Great Ocean Road’s Twelve Apostles, but located just 12 minutes drive away is the Loch Ard Gorge - a hidden gem. Take the stairs down to the shore and stand between the enormous cliffs while getting a clear view down from the gorge. It is truly a surreal feeling to be standing where historical tragedies and miracles happen. And of course, the stunning views of the clear water are simply mesmerising.

Australia's Great Ocean Road|One of the must-see popular attractions around
Transportation strategy: self-drive or tour group
Must-visit attraction: Mutton Bird Lookout
Recommended hotel: Loch Ard Bed and Breakfast
Must-eat food: Craypot Bistro
Shopping guide: Port Campbell Shopping
The surrounding terrain is special, the natural landscape formed by sea erosion is very beautiful, and the towering rocks on both sides surround this beautiful small beach
This side is called "Tom and Eva Lookout", the scenery is also good, and it is not as windy as the Twelve Apostles. The view from the observation deck here.
The gray clouds in the sky are neither dense nor sparse, and the sunlight shining down varies

the razorback
#celebratewithtrip
the next stop of my great ocean road road trip wad actually the razor back. honestly this was one of my favorite attractions because the rock just looks so beautiful and pretty. the sharp edges are actually quite mesmerizing and in the deep blue sea it looks really good. would highly recommend to come here during your road trip as well. only have to walk a straight route and there is no steep slope or whatsoever from the car park hence very manageable and easy for people of all ages. take some nice and memorable photos here. not a lot of people too and not crowded hence can take a nice shot.

loch ard gorge
#celebratewithtrip
the next must visit during your great ocean road road trip would be the loch ard gorge. this is also one of my personal favorites. the good thing about this is you are up close and can take so many nice pictures over here. love the colors of the sea. it is quite sandy though so would suggest taking your shoes off if possible when walking.
apparently there are a lot of tourists during the weekdays as well so it is quite impossible to take a picture without having someone in the background. nevertheless it is still nice and the picture turns out great. would recommend visiting and admiring this natural wonders.

#celebratewithtrip
One of the attraction when come to great ocean road in Australia. Its a next stop after 12 apostle. Beautiful erosion over million years by the sea, wine and sand! Great views with excellent picturesque opportunities. 100 meters walk from car park and then there's steep steps leading down to the gorge. The view is great. The cliff, ocean view, the warm sand. It’s just so relaxing.

My favourite gorge along Great Ocean Road
#bucketlistreboot
The Loch Ard Gorge is one of the best-loved stop-off points along the Great Ocean Road. It’s situated in the Port Campbell National Park and is just three minutes from the world-famous formation of the Twelve Apostles.
The picturesque gorge is home to a smooth, pearlescent bay and an inlet of clear, blue water. It’s flanked by two yellow-washed cliff faces and tufts of vibrant greenery. Though it looks like something out of a storybook, Loch Ard isn’t just a pretty face. In fact, it has an interesting and colourful history that spans back hundreds of years. It was here that the Loch Ard, probably Victoria’s most famous shipwreck, was smashed against Muttonbird Island in 1878 with only two young survivors.

Wreck of Loch Ard
The Loch Ard Gorge is one of the popular stop-off points when driving down the Great Ocean Road. It is situated in Port Campbell National Park.
In 1878, there was a shipwreck in Port Campbell and there were only 2 survivors who were washed ashore. The ship’s name was Loch Ard and that is how Loch Ard Gorge got it’s name.
There are a few walking tracks which you can take to fully enjoy the beautiful nature settings at Loch Ard Gorge. I recommend the Loch Ard Wreck Lookout and the Mutton Bird Island Lookout for exceptional views and don’t miss out on the Wreck of the Loch Ard trail to learn more about the region’s history.

Loch Ard G
Loch Ard Gorge is only about 2 km from the 12 disciples of the Great Ocean Road. So after 12 tourers, don't forget to continue westbound.
A few hundred meters walk from the parking lot, you can overlook the canyon, and the huge rock stands in the sea, which is very shocking. But don't think that's all. Just follow the trail to the beach and feel the magnificence of the rock up close. Moreover, the beach here is particularly delicate, and the surge in the bay is not very large. Consider swimming in the sun.
But there will be snakes in the nearby grass, or be careful, try not to go inside the grass.

Australia Roadtrip with Great Ocean Road
Address - NRMA Port Campbell holiday park
Atmosphere/Location - Small hotel but spacious area, has a common area where you can cook
Highlight - Must travel through the seaside road to get a very beautiful view
A long-dreamed road trip to Great Ocean Road, a road ranked as one of the most beautiful in the world. I must say that it is worth everything that I have invested in to visit various places on this trip. I recommend NRMA Port Campbell accommodation. It is comfortable to stay, has a common area where you can cook, or you can walk to the NRMA Port Campbell for less than 5 minutes and you will find a restaurant and a medium-sized minimart, similar to a 7-Eleven in our country, which has everything you need. You can always find rabbits or beautiful birds flying nearby at the accommodation. It is not difficult to travel. I recommend renting a car. It is easy to drive and not complicated.

Port Campbell - a great place to take a short break during your drive on Australia's Great Ocean Road
Accommodation: Loch Ard Motor Inn
Address: 18 Lord St, Port Campbell, Victoria 3269, Australia
Price per person: HK$905/3 person room (twin + single bed)
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Reason for recommendation: It is a great value for money CP value very high place to stay, highly recommended self-driving people can choose here for a short stay, especially in the cold winter, the bed is covered with electric blankets, and there is heating provided, pillows and beds are very good to sleep, and outdoor balcony, early to watch the sun rise.
Check-in is also very convenient, if more than 6 o'clock will become self-service check in, will post the accommodation information at the counter door very easy to handle, next time I have the opportunity to come will still choose this motel.
(Since it was already 9pm when I arrived that day, I forgot to take a picture of the room 😅)

Loch Ard Gorge - a secret canyon on the Great Ocean Road
The Shipwreck Valley is a natural wonder on the Great Ocean Road. It was named after the "Loch Ard" ship sank here in 1878. It looks like a canyon split by a giant axe. The towering cliffs on both sides embrace the azure sea water, forming an isolated small bay.
Main attractions
🌊 Canyon and blue sea:
- The steep limestone cliffs plunge vertically into the sea, forming a U-shaped canyon. On sunny days, the sea water presents a dreamy blue-green color.
- At low tide, you can approach the beach and observe the caves and rock textures washed out by the waves up close.
🚢 Shipwreck historical relics:
- There is a rock called "Island Arch" at the entrance of the canyon (originally a natural arch, collapsed in 2009), which was once a fatal obstacle for ships.
- The small exhibition board on the east side of the beach tells the story of the survivors of the "Loch Ard".
📸 Various viewing angles:
- The main viewing platform overlooks the panoramic view, and the trail can go down to the beach (the steps are steep).
- The "Thunder Cave" on the east side can hear the roaring echo when the waves are big, and the "Razorback" rock on the west side is shaped like a knife back, which is suitable for taking pictures.
Safety and precautions
⚠️ Cliff risks:
- There are no guardrails in some areas. Stay away from the edge on strong winds, especially when bringing children.
🌊 Waves and tides:
- The water in the bay is calm, but the waves outside are fierce. Do not climb the reef or take pictures with your back to the waves.
👟 Trail suggestions:
- The steps down to the beach are short but slippery, so it is recommended to wear non-slip shoes; it is safer to explore at low tide.
Best way to experience
✅ Early morning or evening: avoid the peak of tour groups and enjoy the quiet light and shadow of the canyon alone.
✅ Combine historical imagination: Reading the story of the shipwreck (there is information at the visitor center) will make the scenery more immersive.
✅ How to play on the way: Visit the same day as the Twelve Apostles (5 minutes drive) and Gibson Steps.
Practical information
📍 Location: Port Campbell National Park, 10 minutes drive east of the Twelve Apostles
🚗 Transportation: Self-driving is the most convenient, parking is free but you need to arrive early in the peak season
⏳ Suggested time: 30-60 minutes (including short walks)
The Shipwreck Valley is not as famous as the Twelve Apostles, but it has a more secret shock. Standing at the bottom of the canyon and looking up, it seems that you can hear the echoes of the waves and history a hundred years ago-this place is suitable for travelers who like niche and love to explore details. #summervacay #travel #myitinerary #beachlife #naturalwonders #thingstodo #familytravel #lochardgorge #greatoceanroad

We set off
We set off in a small group that day and gathered at 66 Spencer Road at 7:30 in the morning. The driver and tour guide were professional and the tour bus was very clean. It was not the peak season, so there were only a few of us that day. The weather was cool at only 12 degrees, but fortunately the sun was abundant and it was very comfortable. A down jacket was enough. The weather there was cool in the morning, 20 degrees at noon, and 12 degrees in the afternoon. The temperature difference is large. It is highly recommended and the scenery is very beautiful. Don't miss it.
