When I traveled to Chiang Mai, I took part in a local one-day tour. I left the city and took a minibus to visit a tribe in the north of Chiang Mai, close to Myanmar. After having breakfast at the hotel in the morning, wait comfortably in the lobby for your tour guide to pick you up. After confirming your identity, you will board the minibus and head to your destination. But the minibus’s shockproof design was so poor that it almost made me vomit. 🤢 At noon, we visited the White Temple in Chiang Rai, and then had a meal at the buffet restaurant next to it. There were many options and we ate very full. After a short rest, we prepared to go to today's destination, the Long Neck Tribe. Although when I booked the trip, some people on the Internet said that this itinerary was cruel and should not be reduced to a commercial activity. But if such a journey can help local people earn some money to sustain their lives, I don’t think it’s a big deal. We followed the guide's footsteps and explanations as we visited the tribal shop. A little girl, about four or five years old, sits there obediently, posing for photos with tourists, even helping to adjust your clothes and asking you in her broken Chinese to buy their handicrafts. first you do need to know that you have to pay 300 bhat for the entrance fee. it’s def worth it since there is no other way you’re able to see those tribe people with your own eyes in reality. there are 5 different tribes in this region, the one named Lahu are not here currently due to pandemic. However, there are still 4 tribes left you’re able to visit! and it is really cool to walk around and try to carry this neck thing which weighs 2 kilos! there are also some cafes and souvenir shops in the entrance. the view here is absolutely amazing. but 300 bhat is a lot, depends on what you’re looking for, if you’re not really interested, it’s okay not to go inside
