Getting There - we drove 2 hours down to tarifa spain and took a ferry over to tangier only took 1 hr by ferry. Attractions - many places to see like the tanger mall, many shops and restaurants. Hercules cave was so beautiful. loved doing the camel rides on the beach. Hotels - hilton in tangier was huge and 5 stars Food & Restaurants - I suggest the morrocan salad and the moroccan teas so delicious. the morrocan soup was also amazing. Rocher Karyan, Tangier, Morocco When it comes to Morocco, I feel it's under the radar compared to Casablanca, Rabat, Fez, and Marrakesh. Everyone speaks highly of those cities but not of Tangier. I stayed for two months and got to know the city very well. My favorite thing is the almost empty beaches. Yes, the town square can get busy with Spanish tourists hopping off the ferry, but take a cheap taxi a few minutes down the road, and you have the beach to yourself. The cave has two openings, one to the sea and one to the land. The sea opening is known as " The Map of Africa", because there is a crack in the rock that resembles the outline of Africa. The cave itself is part natural and part man-made. The man-made part was used by Berber people to cut stone wheels from the walls. The lighting system, a feature of the latest restoration project, produces pleasant tones and contrasts. The caves were opened to the public in 1920, and declared as a National Heritage site in 1952.

On another one of my backpacking adventures, this time the ferry from Spain to Tangier in Morocco for a 3 day break, staying at the Grand Mogador Sea View & Spa. I managed to get a great deal on a room with a Sea View and with breakfast every day in the price I couldn’t go wrong. Located a 5-minute drive from Tangier Train Station, Grand Mogador Sea View & Spa offers an outdoor swimming pool, Moroccan restaurant, and had direct access to the beach. Featuring Sea or Mountain View’s the air-conditioned accommodations include private bathrooms with shower/ tub combinations and free toiletries , private balconies, a minibar, TV, telephone, also bath robes and slippers, and free WiFi is provided throughout the property. A continental breakfast is provided every morning between 7.00am-11.00am, after breakfast you can access the steam bath, sauna or enjoy a massage treatment, at a surcharge. Check in/out- 15.00/12.30 I had a lovely 3 night stay, my room and view was very nice and the staff very friendly throughout my stay, they couldn’t do enough, I was very impressed. The Caves of Hercules is an archaeological cave complex located in Cape Spartel, Morocco, and situated 14 kilometres west of Tangier, the popular tourist attraction is is adjacent to the summer palace of the King of Morocco. The cave has two openings, one to the sea and one to land. The sea opening is known as the ‘’Map of Africa.’’ It is believed that the Phoenicians created the sea opening, which is in the shape of Africa when looked at from the sea. There are also some markings on the wall in the shape of eyes, that are said to have been made by the Phoenicians, which make up a map of the local area. The cave itself is part natural and part man-made. The man-made part was used by Berber people to cut stone wheels from the walls, to make millstones, thus expanding the cave considerably. The cave was long thought to be bottomless and it was believed that the cave is one end of a subterranean tunnel over 24 kilometres (15miles)long which passes under the Strait of Gibraltar and emerges in St Michael’s Cave in Gibraltar. Legend has it that the Barbary macaques came to the Rock of Gibraltar from Morocco this way. Mythological tradition also holds that the Greek god Hercules stayed and slept in this cave before doing his 11th labour, (one of the twelve labours which King Eurystheus of Tiryns had given to him) which was to get golden apples from the Hesperides Garden, which some ancient Greek writers said was located nearby at Lixus (one of the cities of Larache) A Bit More History- In 6000 BC, the Caves of Hercules were inhabited by Neolithic people. In 1920, the caves were officially opened to the public and were declared a National Heritage site in 1952. In 1982, electric lights were installed in the caves. On October 23, 1995 British rock group Def Leppard played a concert in the cave , and on December 20 2023, the caves were closed to the public due to rockfall caused by nearby construction work ,to ensure public safety repairs were made and the caves were reopened in January 2004. The city bears the marks of its rich history, shaped by the Carthaginians, Romans, Spaniards, Arabs, Moors, and French. Today, Tangier has transformed from its historical past into a modern destination, where European gentlemen enjoy sunbathing on its beaches.

The feeling of being "supported" is so happy😭 From Cape Spatel to Africa Cave, then to Asila, surrounded by the enthusiasm of locals, this trip directly became a god! ! Spartel Point: Reap surprises at the end of the world Just reach Cape Spatel, at the northwestern tip of the African continent, you are shocked to speak by the magnificent view in front of you! The Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea meet here, and the waves are crashing against the reefs on the shore🌊 I was pressing the shutter button at the lighthouse when I suddenly heard a "Hello!" Ahmed enthusiastically acted as a guide and led me around the rear of the lighthouse, where I found the perfect camera spot to capture the two-color sea. He also shared many legends about the waters, such as stories of sailors in ancient times relying on lighthouses to guide their way. As we parted, Ahmed forced me a bag of Moroccan dates and said, "This is a gift for a Chinese friend!" African Hole: Meet the Hidden Edition "Best Explainer" On the way from Cape Spatel to Africa Cave, I met Sara, a college student working at the scenic spot again. Knowing that I was Chinese, he offered to be my guide, introducing in super fluent English: "This cave is shaped like the African continent, and at low tide you can still see the natural arches drawn by the waves!" Walking into the cave, Sara explained like a small encyclopedia: "This used to be a pirate's hideout, these rock patterns are the result of hundreds of years of wave washing ~" She also took me to avoid the crowd, found a corner where I could take pictures of the cave entrance and sea view at the same time, hand-in-hand taught me to shoot atmosphere blockbusters 📸 Esira: An art spree that breaks into a fairytale town Arriving in Esila in the evening, just walking into the blue and white alley, I was attracted by the colorful graffiti on the wall. While I was fascinated, a street painter Youssef greeted me with a smile: “Want to try painting graffiti with your own hands?” Under his guidance, I picked up a paintbrush and drew a Chinese panda on the wall 🐼 Youssef excitedly called the neighbors to watch, and everyone gave a thumbs up. Youssef also took me around the treasured corners of town: the century-old cafe tucked away in an alley, the rooftop terrace overlooking the entire coastline, and the craftsman’s shop specializing in hand-painted ceramics. Before leaving, he handed me a hand-drawn map: "It's marked with gourmet restaurants that only locals know about. Be sure to find me next time you come back!" This trip to Tangier not only reaped the magnificence of Cape Spatel, the magic of African caves, and the romance of Asila, but was also healed by the enthusiasm of the locals! It turns out that the meaning of travel is not only to see the scenery, but also to feel the purest kindness between people - the treasures, hurry up, this surprise unique to Tangier, must not miss! !
