The "Goka Shrine" in Arashiyama was established in 1961 by people from the beauty and hairdressing industry in Kyoto.
It is the only "Hairdressing Shrine" in Japan and is worshipped devoutly by beauticians and hairdressers from all over Japan.
It is said that the "Goka Jinja Shrine" is responsible for managing people's head affairs and can bless the health of hair. It is only in Arashiyama, Kyoto, Japan.
The history of Mikado Shrine can be traced back to 1259, and the deity of the shrine, Fujiwara no Saejo Ryo Masayuki, is a real person in Japanese history. He was a man from the Kamakura period, and was famous for making a living by tying and styling women's hair. He became the beginning of the Japanese hairdressing industry and was highly respected in the hairdressing industry. He was also known as the ancestor of Japanese hairdressing and beauty.
Although Gokaku Shrine is located in the bustling Arashiyama, it is a very small shrine, located on the other side of the bamboo forest path, away from the hustle and bustle.
The amulets of the shrine are also very unique, small and exquisite.
Especially the transparent box contains small scissors✂️ and a small comb🪮 (unfortunately they were out of stock on the day of my visit)
PS: Mikado Shrine is also a special preservation area of history
