A little reminder before departure: check the weather first + there will be a lot of people!
Before setting off, we recommend that you check the [Mt. Hakodate Live Video] online to directly confirm the weather and visibility conditions for the day.
After all, if it rains or fogs, the night view will be greatly reduced, which is a pity!
We are here on weekdays! But there were still a lot of people on the scene, and it took about 30 to 50 minutes from buying tickets to taking the cable car.
Although one cable car can hold a lot of people, it is still recommended that you make good use of your time and arrive as early as possible so that you don't have to wait too long.

🚠Things to note when taking the cable car + observation deck
After arriving at the Hakodate Mountain Cable Car Station, I followed the crowds and instructions and took the cable car, which took only 3 minutes to reach the top of the mountain.
But a small reminder: after you get up the mountain that day, you are not allowed to stop at the main viewing platform to take pictures (probably due to crowd control), so you can only move quickly and cannot stand in the middle and take pictures slowly.
Friends who want to take slow photos can go to the nearby [Fishing Fire Park], where the scenery is also beautiful and there are relatively fewer people.

📷Best photography tips + check-in spots
It is recommended to go up the mountain before dark, because when we arrived, many people in the front row had already reserved seats.
If you go up the mountain too late, it will be difficult to find a good location to take pictures of the stunning scenery.
In addition, when you go out from the second floor of the mountain top, there is a large stone tablet with "Mount Hakodate" written on it. There are fewer people here, so it is a good place to check in and take a few photos!
There is also a gift shop in the museum, selling some desserts, cookies and souvenirs, but taking photos is prohibited in the store, so I didn’t take any~

Tips for going down the mountain: Go and queue up as soon as you finish taking photos!
A very important reminder:
After taking pictures after dark, I suggest you quickly queue up for the cable car down the mountain!
Although the cable car is large, it only carries one passenger at a time. There are so many people on site. If you wait until the last minute to line up, it will be very slow to go down the mountain, and your dinner or other itineraries may be delayed.

🥶Keep warm! Stay warm! Keep warm again!
The wind at the top of Mount Hakodate is very strong and it is really cold, especially if you come here in winter.
Be sure to prepare small windproof and warm items such as hats, earmuffs, and gloves, otherwise you will be so cold on the mountain that you will shiver all the time, which will affect your mood for taking pictures.
