Gimpo Manisan, South Korea | A Cultural Heritage Site Witnessing Historical Changes
🌟Manisan has a unique charm. It is the 139th mountain fortress in history, built in the 20th year of King Sukjong (1694) to resist sea bandits and protect Ganghwa Island. There used to be a north gate, west gate, and south gate. Although the north gate, west gate, and south gate were burned down during the Byeongin Yangyo (1866), the north gate was restored in 1995, and the south gate was restored in 2002. The total length of the mountain fortress is 6 km, and the unrecovered part is still 4 km long. Walking through it is like traveling through time and feeling the flames of war in those years.
🧐The scenery here is beautiful all year round. In spring, the azaleas bloom all over the mountains, like a beautiful red ocean; in summer, the water in the mountains is clean and clear, bringing a touch of coolness; in autumn, the maple leaves are like a red paint box overturned by nature, and the whole mountain city is decorated with red leaves like a fairy tale world. The view from the top of the mountain is super wide. Through the mouth of the Han River, you can not only see the Samgaksan Mountain in Seoul, but also see the beautiful scenery of the Incheon Sea from a distance. It's amazing!
🤩There are also many fun places around Manisan. At the foot of the mountain is Mansusa Temple, a temple built during the reign of Queen Jinsung of Silla, which exudes a strong historical atmosphere. Not far away is the International Sculpture Park, the only theme park in the world with the theme of unification. It displays more than 30 works by 16 world-class sculptors such as Geovany Anselmo in more than 30 different places. It is naturally connected with the surrounding landscape, and visitors can touch the sculptures while walking, which is a win-win situation.
👣If you want to climb the mountain, you can start from Gunhari or Seongdong-ri, and it takes about 50 minutes to reach the top. If you are not in good physical condition, don't worry, the scenery along the way is also beautiful, and you can enjoy the process of climbing slowly.
💖Whether you are interested in history and culture or simply like beautiful scenery, Manisan will not disappoint you. Come here and start a unique journey😘
