It was a trip Zagreb with family. Just to share some of my favorite places in Zagreb. We visited Ban Jelačić Square upon arrival. The central square is a great starting point for exploring the city. It's named after the 19th-century Croatian hero, Josip Jelačić. We then visited the Dolac Market. A vibrant market where locals buy fresh produce. We were there to buy some fresh fruits. I would recommend you to try out pastries like "štrukli" (a pastry filled with cheese 🧀). 📍Dolac 9, 10000, Zagreb, Croatia. We also visited Pod Zidom Bistro. They served mainly Traditional Croatian Meal. I would recommend you to try "Peka" (slow-cooked meat and vegetables), "Fuži" with truffles. There is a small shopping mall nearby as well as supermarkets. Upper town is only 20 minutes by walk or you can simply take a tram. The WiFi here is very fast. I would recommend this place. I would highly recommend taking a walking tour of this city, currently a lot of the landmarks are under construction due to the huge earthquakes of 2020. Walking around the town is fascinating. See the huge titled roof of St. Mark’s Church, visit Lotrščak Tower, wander the small streets and take a ride on the shortest funicular. A fairly small but quiet and calm park located just beside the main lower town square of Ban Jelacic square. It’s relatively compact within the park but you can find benches lining the sides where locals enjoy sitting. An early morning arrival ensures for ultimate peace in this area. When I arrived, there were workers cleaning up the grounds and fixing plants around the main park area. Every trip I have, I always seem to end up in a museum so I’ve decided to start making it to the unique versions of museums instead. Museum of broken relationships is funny, cute and a rollercoaster of emotions. Able to spend some time walking around the capital,also the largest city of Croatia during my last visit to Europe. However, what truly made my stay unforgettable was the incredible suite upgrade I received. Upon check-in, I was delighted to learn that I had been upgraded to a luxurious suite. The suite was nothing short of spectacular, with its spacious layout and tasteful design. The Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb, Croatia. This unusual museum is visited by people from all over the world. The exhibits were collected as donations from all over the world, and each item is accompanied by a comment from the donor. It started as a traveling exhibition with the hope that people would heal the wounds of broken hearts by donating "relics" from past relationships, and opened as a permanent museum in 2010. The Zagreb Festival of Lights (Festival svjetla) is hands down one of the most captivating events I have ever experienced. The city streets and landmarks transform into a magical wonderland of light installations and interactive displays that captivate the senses. The festival offers a diverse range of artistic styles and approaches that showcase the city's cultural heritage and contemporary art scene made by many international artists. From mesmerizing light shows to interactive installations, the festival offers an immersive experience that engages all the senses. The creative use of technology and art makes it a must-see event for anyone who appreciates the transformative power of art. Overall, the Zagreb Festival of Lights is an unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Croatia's capital city. It must be said that it's also a great exercise and that it's probably better to try to see in 2 days rather than 1. Also, try avoiding the weekend because it gets crowded. It was near the city centre, small but convenient. You can easily walk to the city centre. There were also a lovely bakery and gelato shop nearby. In fact, in addition to the Plitvice Lakes and Dubrovnik, Croatia’s capital, Zagreb, is not to be missed. The entire city area is full of characteristic buildings, including St. Mar Valley Church and Zagreb Cathedral, there are some small shops selling specialty souvenirs along the road, and a vegetable market, making it well worth a visit.
