Buckle up—my weekend in Pyin Oo Lwin was pure magic. 🌺 First Impressions Stepping off the Mandalay bus, I was hit with crisp 20°C air (goodbye, Yangon sweat-fest!) and the scent of eucalyptus and fresh strawberries. The town’s all winding lanes, candy-colored cottages, and clip-clop of horse carts like a Jane Austen novel—but with way better food. 🤣 The "I Rode a Horse Cart… Badly" Moment I insisted on driving a horse cart to Pwe Kauk Falls (how hard could it be?). Spoiler: Very. Within minutes, my "steed" Moonlight was zigzagging like a drunkard while I white-knuckled the reins. The owner laughed so hard he gave me a free strawberry smoothie as consolation. 🐴💨 🍓 Foodie Heaven Breakfast was hot, buttery naan with Pyin Oo Lwin avocado jam at a Persian tea house (yes, really). #MarchGoodPlaces2025 Pyin Oo Lwin ပြင်ဦးလွင်, also known as Mye Myo, in central Myanmar, is only half an hour's drive from Mandalay. You can use Google Maps to navigate there. The last picture is the hiking trail to Bhin Oo Lwin. After climbing the mountain, you will enter the flat city. The botanical garden is very large and requires a ticket to enter, 2500 kyat/person for locals and 10000 kyat/person for foreigners. You can take a sightseeing bus at the entrance, 20000 kyat/45 minutes, and drive in for 500 kyat/car. The park has lush vegetation of many types, a forest for raising birds, a lake, and woodland, making it a great place for camping. There is also a butterfly museum, but taking photos is not allowed inside. There are various butterfly, beetle, bee and moth specimens, beetles as big as the palm of your hand, and butterflies emitting purple laser light. Address: XFV9+JQ8, Pyin Oo Lwin, Myanmar

#favouriteitinerary Kandawgyi Natjonal Gardens is a popular location for tourists and locals alike to visit. The garden itself is very big and has a lot of attractions all around. Getting there is quite easy as well, it’s built around the beautiful lake in Pyin Oo Lwin and its clock tower is hard to not see. The entrance fee is also only $3 as well. There are not a lot of food options inside so it’s recommended to eat beforehand or afterwards! There was a tree that was growing in a falling posture and I really enjoyed climbing up that. Their gardens were also very colorful and the park had so much to offer. I haven’t explored it all even after 10+ visits!

#newyearnewtrip I have posted about the cafe inside Kandawgyi garden but not specifically the whole garden. This garden is huge, like actually huge.. They have literally anything you can think of. A climbable clock tower? got it A butterfly museum? yep An orchid garden? sure do A walkway over a mud forest? got that too A bird park? yep The list can go on for so long so people usually rent buggies where a driver sends you around the main locations you wanna go to! Their flowers are highly maintained and the park itself is great as well. This is especially because of the weather as it is on a mountain. The best part is that park entry costs only $10 for foreigners and $2 for locals! Definitely a must visit if you ever think of visiting Pyin Oo Lwin, Myanmar. Happy Travels ~

The National Kandawgyi Botanical Gardens have been around for very long and have places like Bird Zoos, Butterfly Museums, Mud Forests, a climbable clocktower, rope bridges, etc. Their most renowned aspect is the flower garden of course. While visiting this big garden, getting refreshments at Bamboo Cafe might be a great idea! My favorites from their shop are mango smoothie and Burmese traditional sticky rice medley! Although Myanmar is not the safest option to travel to right now, I hope my tips are useful for when the peaceful days come. Happy Travels ~
