This Dongbei Braised Meat Stall at NEX Serves 400g Pork Sets from $6.90
#summervacay Shi Rou Shou 食肉兽, which translates to “Carnivore,” is a hidden gem we stumbled upon inside the newly reopened Food Junction at NEX. Specialising in Dongbei-style braised and BBQ meats, this unassuming stall dishes out seriously massive portions that are perfect for anyone with a serious appetite for meat.
What sets them apart isn’t just the generous servings, but the flavour-packed depth of their cooking. The star of the show is their signature "mother braise sauce," a unique Dongbei blend made from 5 to 6 types of sauces and a medley of 13 spices. The result is a rich, savoury base that penetrates every layer of the meat. Whether it’s pork neck, spine, ribs, leg, belly, or trotters, the meats are slow-cooked until tender, deeply infused with flavour, and undeniably satisfying.
We tried the braised pork neck and BBQ pork spine, each set arriving with around 350g to 400g of meat, a mountain of rice, pickled cabbage, braised veggies, and house-made kimchi. The pork neck was melt-in-your-mouth tender, drenched in that deeply aromatic sauce. The BBQ pork spine, on the other hand, was grilled fresh to order—smoky, juicy, and coated in a peppery spice blend that gave it just the right amount of heat.
Portions start from just $6.90, making it one of the best-value meaty meals we’ve had in a food court. If you’re craving something hearty, flavourful, and a little off the beaten path, Shi Rou Shou 食肉兽 at NEX might just be your next go-to spot.
