Tucked away in the bustling streets of Tokyo, this cozy spot offered a rare chance to meet these majestic birds up close. The café was quiet and calming, almost like stepping into a forest sanctuary in the middle of the city. Each owl had its own personality; some were shy, others curious. I learned their names, their breeds, and even a bit about their natural habitats. What struck me most was how carefully the staff cared for them, ensuring they were healthy, well-fed, and given plenty of rest. Many owl species face threats from habitat loss and climate change. Visiting a space that raises awareness, while also promoting responsible animal care felt deeply meaningful. Owl Cafe Akihabara is a place where the abundance of owls will melt your heart. The environment is very comfortable, and it seems the owls are well taken care of. There are many different types of owls, around 30-40 in total! This is a must-visit experience when you come to Japan. #thingstodo We did the private 45min experience and it was worth the visit. The experience center has owls spread out across different parts of the cafe. The staff there was courteous and friendly. We had access to all the available owls and each was treated with respect and gentleness. The handler also helped us take some great family photos. We had small children and the staff knew how to make both the children and owls at ease with each others. Should definitely check this out if you’re an owl lover or want your children to have a one of a kind experience.

#dreamdestination I feel a little sorry for the owls in the owl cafe, they are all packed into the store. But they are cute anyway. They are surprisingly big, so it's a bit scary at first.

We had to be quiet and no sudden shouting or screaming is allowed as it would alarm the rest of the owls. You can pick an owl after the “briefing” or let the owl choose you. Our’s did. His name is Cowboy. Such a cute baby owl who is turning into his teenage phase i think. Tried to fly away from me even. Haha. It was definitely an eye opener. They do keep the owls well-fed and give them breaks in between.
