The scenery in Magelang and its surroundings is quite unique. At that time, I honestly just chose nalendro borobudur to fill my stomach and to have a place to pray when passing through Magelang. Nalendro is also close to Borobudur Temple, less than 3 km away. It turns out that Nalendro looks even more beautiful in person than it does on social media--including in this Reel. It's really ideal to visit in the afternoon, although we had to miss the sunset because we didn't want to arrive too late in Yogyakarta. The afternoon is very pleasant sitting in the outdoor area, which is a cactus garden. They say it’s similar to a desert in Arizona, but I’ve never been there so I don’t want to make a mistake. Nalendro's cactus garden is well-maintained, providing a beautiful view facing the hills. An hour doesn’t feel enough to do everything--eating, enjoying the view, praying, and taking content. We didn’t even have time to take a video of the shaded area protected by trees, an ideal seating area if you visit during the day. The prices of food and drinks are quite cheap for such a beautiful place. Fried rice costs around 40 thousand rupiahs and comes in a large portion. My visit to Borobudur Temple in Central Java, Indonesia was eye opening. Located about 1 hours drive to Yogyakarta, it was akin to stepping into a world of ancient wonders. If you have been there, you would agree that this massive temple, built over 1,000 years ago, is truly a breathtaking architectural marvel. And beyond just being a pretty sight, the rich cultural heritage and history makes this a must see for anyone visiting the Yogyakarta region. Currently (as of March 2024), we can now have full access to the temple structure but there is a daily limit of 1,200 visitors. I highly recommend getting the Temple Guided Tour ticket from Trip.com, as opposed to the Borobudur Temple Tickets, as having a guide that explains a brief history of the temple, the carvings on the wall, the religious context etc makes a world of difference. Having made you way there, wouldn’t you want to also go up the temple structure (up the the 9th level)? Watching the sunrise at Punthuk Setumbu near Yogyakarta was an awesome adventure! We woke up super early, starting our journey from Yogyakarta City at 3:45 am. It took us about 15 minutes to climb up the hill. When we reached the top, we waited for about 30 mins before the sky started to turn pink and orange. The the sun peeked over the horizon at 5:45 am. It was so beautiful! We could see the whole area around us lighting up with the morning sun. Even though we were tired from waking up early, seeing the sunrise made it all worth it.
