Along the way, you can also appreciate the changes in the volcanic landforms in Yangmingshan National Park, which is well worth the trip. Climbing up to the main peak of Qixing Mountain, you will feel like you are looking down from a high vantage point. Be sure to take a photo with the triangular stone tablet to prove that you have been here! Moreover, Qixing Mountain belongs to a volcanic group with rich ecological species and landforms. Although this is summer, but the weather at Qixing Mountain, located on Yangmingshan, is still good for hiking. To me, it is really worth all of my exhuastion! At the 1,120-meter height, the scenery is absolutely incredible. Not only wonderful 360-degree see-scape, flowers, and wild animals, but also able to see the steam even though it is located on an extinct volcano. I recommend you to start from Xiaoyoukeng, main peak, east peak and lastly Lengshuikeng. Then, you can visit another beautiful spot, Qingtiangang. (You can see my previous post~) P.S. I don't recommend you to start at Lengshuikeng like me. It took more energy. My first experience of a mountain in the suburbs of Taipei, Qixing Mountain in Yangmingshan. It took about 2 hours from the trailhead to the summit (taking photos while walking), which was quite a test of calf muscle strength! Although we reached the summit, the weather was bad and we encountered a white wall! I look forward to seeing the beautiful scenery next time I challenge~

Le post is almost 3 years overdue; I realise I never got down to writing about it all this while so here’s finally an update nevertheless, because this is truly one for the books ✍️ Is it memorable cos’ of fabulous weather we enjoyed during the climb? Just look at that first shot of me on Mount Qixing’s main peak looking drenched from head to toe & you’ll know that’s hardly true 😂 Even before starting our ascent from the Xiaoyoukeng trail entrance, a steady drizzle had ensued 🌧️ but we refused a change in plans and promptly reached the main peak at 1120 metres above sea level, also the highest peak in Taipei city & the highest dormant volcano in Taiwan. Out came the small Singapore flag 🇸🇬 but apart from our successful summit attempt, knowing that we had completed it even in such dire weather conditions made our experience significantly unforgettable. By this time, the steady drizzle had evolved into a downpour, but we still made a slight detour to Mount Qixing’s east peak at 1107 metres above sea level whilst in high spirits 😄 Trudging down the mountain, we encountered a female Taiwanese hiker who was in the midst of a summit attempt, geared in a raincoat and an attention-grabbing scooter helmet 🤣 Good vibes abounded as we exchanged a few words - she was amazed that we had persevered our way to both peaks in inclement weather and we were equally impressed with her determination to make it to the top 💪 Not a single inch of my skin was dry when I hopped on the bus back to our hotel, but I was running on adrenaline after having achieved something slightly harder than usual 🥳 with awesome company from Yihui who agreed to join me on this adventure without the slightest hesitation, rain or shine ❤️❤️❤️ (I honestly couldn’t have chosen a better comrade to do this together! 🙏👯♂️)

Qixing Mountain was originally an administrative village with a perilous path up the mountain that was not accessible by car, earning it the nickname 'Zhangjiajie's Tibetan Plateau'.
