[Sanada Shrine/Nagano Prefecture] A huge vermilion-lacquered helmet with antlers on either side welcomes you
Sanada Shrine in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture
𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃
This shrine enshrines the successive lords of Ueda Castle.
It was built by volunteers from within and outside Nagamura to respect and adore the virtues of the Sanada clan and to console their spirits.
It was destroyed by a major fire in April 1887, and the main hall and prayer hall were rebuilt the following year in 1888. In 1919, the worship hall was rebuilt.
After that, lamenting its dilapidated state, it was moved to its current location in 1919.
When you enter Ueda Castle Ruins Park and pass through the torii gate, your eyes will be drawn to the huge vermilion-painted helmet, the symbol of the Sanada clan!
Ueda Castle is said to be indestructible, and many people visit the shrine to pray for success in exams. The helmet design is also on the votive plaques, which looks cool.
