[Miyagi] Zao "Takimidai" and "Okama"
#AbsolutelyFreeTrip
Takimidai, a must-see scenic spot in Zao Town, is about a 10-minute drive from Togatta Onsen.
It is on the way to Okama.
Takimidai is located at an altitude of about 700m, and from here you can see the whole view including Fudotaki, the largest waterfall in Mt. Zao, and Sankaitaki, which has been selected as one of the "100 Best Waterfalls in Japan".
It is known that the beauty of the waterfall is even more beautiful during the season of fresh green leaves, but it is also known that it is even more beautiful during the season of autumn leaves.
Please note that it is not possible to visit in winter due to snow.
Free parking available.

Okama is called Okama because its appearance surrounded by the outer rim of the mountain resembles a kettle.
The surface of the lake is filled with emerald green water, and in contrast to the rough crater walls, it has a mysterious atmosphere.
It is a symbol of Zao along with the frost-covered trees in winter.
The lake water is highly acidic, so no living creatures can live there.
The temperature of the lake drops to 2 degrees Celsius at a depth of 10 meters from the surface, and the temperature rises as the depth increases. This is a unique double-thermal layer, which is a lake unlike any other in the world.
It is also called the "Five-Color Lake" because the color changes depending on how the sunlight hits it.
The surrounding area is located in a mountainous area at an altitude of about 1,600 meters, and the temperature can be about 10 degrees lower than the temperature at the foot of the mountain.
Even during Golden Week, it was only 3 degrees, so it was extremely cold!
Please bring warm clothes that can be removed.
Also, comfortable shoes are recommended!
In bad weather and poor visibility due to thick fog, it may not be possible to see Okama.
I went there twice during Golden Week, but I was only able to see it once.
Even during Golden Week, there were days when the road was closed due to freezing.
[Season when Okama can be viewed]
Usually from late April to early November (may vary depending on weather)
(Important) Generally, it is not possible to view Okama from early November to late April due to the winter closure of the Zao Echo Line and High Line.
Viewing may not be possible due to the closure of the Zao Echo Line and Zao High Line.
Please check the road traffic information for the day in advance.
