The best ramen in Chiang Mai: Sanmai Ramen
Started a trip to the north, Chiang Mai with a famous ramen that I read a review from the Ramen Lovers Association of Thailand. This is our 4th meal, but we are not discouraged because the shop opens until 10 pm. We still have plenty of time to digest our 3rd meal.
Sanmai ramen is a famous shop for tonkotsu ramen. When I saw it, I couldn't resist ordering the "Sanmai bomb". This is a rich tonkotsu. I didn't think much of it when I ordered it, but when I ate it, it reminded me of the tonkotsu ramen I had in Fukuoka, the capital of ramen.
Taste: Salty, rich, rich, I emphasize that it is very rich. It suits those who like it rich like me. If you don't seek richness, you can order the regular Hakata style tonkotsu. But if you know yourself that you like it rich, rich, and creamy, this one is the answer.
And don't forget that Sanmai ramen's gyoza is just as outstanding as the ramen. This one is fried with thin and crispy dough. When you press it down with chopsticks, it gives a very impressive texture. Next time, I will try Shoyu Ramen, or if I have a chance to go when there is a special bowl of ramen, like this July, there is an interesting menu, Asari shio ramen, which is also interesting.
