Located in central Ji'nan, Shandong Provincial Museum is a huge and imposing brutalist structure that stands out on the busy street outside. Easily accessible by car or bus, the best time to visit is first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon, once the queues have subsided. Many groups visit here, so expect it to be busy! Once inside, you immediately step into the impressive central space, which is magnificent with it's ceiling and steps. Off the central area, are the different large rooms housing the many historical artefacts from Shandong and the surrounding areas. Traditional art, sculptures, dresses, painting, calligraphy and learning areas will take you several hours to wonder around and see properly. Translation is in English too, which was helpful.
