The newly completed Eslite Life Tainan is a large cultural space that integrates "Siheyuan Courtyard", "Market Corridor" and modern design. The design work of architect Luo Gengfu won the first prize of commercial concept in the 2022 TAC World Design Award. The 10-meter-high double-story bookstore in the museum is filled with elegant wood and bronze gold elements, just like a palace of books; the outdoor "Hundred Steps Staircase" and the light and shadow landscape of the pool have both exhibition and rest functions. The museum also has the largest children's museum in southern Taiwan, the "Picture Book Apartment", a multi-national picture book area, a local tea house, and special selections.

✨Experience:
Walking into Eslite Life Tainan, the first thing you will be shocked by is the 10-meter-high double-layer book wall. The building is like an open library, with a curved atrium that directly introduces natural light. The elegant and grand space design makes people slow down instantly. The wooden bookshelves, retro lamps and copper details interweave a strong cultural taste, allowing people to feel the beauty of the space while reading.
I especially like the outdoor area of the "Hundred Steps Stairs": during the day, you can read new books on the stairs or sit by the reflection of the water to rest; at night, it turns into an open-air cinema or poetry sharing stage, with the city's glimmer, as if you are in a literary festival. This sense of indoor and outdoor flow makes the whole space full of vitality, and makes Eslite more like a cultural stage, not just a bookstore.
The "Picture Book Apartment" in the Children's Pavilion is another highlight. The small world with soft colors and friendly space is designed like a residential layout, and details of parent-child interaction can be seen everywhere. The picture books on the shelves are from world-renowned writers, allowing parents and children to stimulate their imagination while reading, which is a rare cultural resource for local families.
The dining area on the first floor is a gathering place that combines Tainan's characteristics with international flavors: the Hengchun coffee at "Bo Hu on the Second Floor" is mellow and rich, the desserts at "Tanuki Koro" are very popular, StableNice uses greenery to create a comfortable reading corner, and the Eslite Wine Cellar is a big surprise, providing 7,500 red and white wines, which is the first wine cellar space of this specification in Tainan . The fragrance of books, coffee, sweetness, and wine are naturally intertwined in the space, satisfying both aesthetics and taste buds.
The overall flow design is quite smooth: entrance square → bookstore high-ceiling main venue → picture book apartment → dining and selection → outdoor terraces. Each floor is like an independent theme area, but it is connected in one go, which is very suitable for staying from morning to night and enjoying a whole day of literary youth time.
When I actually visited, I happened to see Eslite holding the opening exhibition "Taiwanese Literature Slow Tempo". The exhibition area design uses local writers' golden sentences and pictures and texts to interact, making me feel as if I was thinking in the trajectory of traveling through the old city of Tainan and time. At night, we also visited an open-air movie screening. The chairs in front of the screen were full of spectators. There were also markets and handicrafts around. It was lively but not noisy. It was a mature but still passionate city weekend.
This place not only attracts local families, but also tourists. It is conveniently located near the Chimei Museum and Anping Old Street, and there are 1,200 parking spaces . In the future, Eslite Life Tainan is bound to become a new tourism highlight, connecting more cultural and creative business opportunities and urban energy.
In general, this Eslite is not just a replica of the city flagship store, but a "local version of Eslite" that truly responds to the needs of the south and integrates Tainan's cultural positioning. It makes the bookstore not just a place to buy books, but a complex of reading, life, aesthetics, and cultural interaction. Whether you are a literary youth, a parent-child family, an old bookworm, or a wine tasting lover, you can find your corner here. If you want to find a place where you can read, taste, relax, and experience the rhythm and cultural pulse of the city, it is highly recommended to go to Eslite Life Tainan and have your own cultural adventure in the southern district!
