[Shiga🇯🇵] To Lake Scuole in Nagahama
What is Lake (Umi) no Scuole?
Located right next to Nagahama Kurokabe Square, this is an experiential commercial cultural facility with the theme of "fermentation" that is in keeping with Shiga's unique culture of calling Lake Biwa "Umi". It will open in December 2021 and will provide a space where you can learn, taste, and take home the wisdom of Nagahama life as a "school of living" ⭐️☝🏻
🧀 The core of the facility: "See, make, and taste" fermentation culture
• Cheese production room
The biggest attraction is that you can taste original cheese made from raw milk from Shiga Prefecture on the spot while learning about the maker's handiwork.
• Happy Taro Brewery
A brewery that handles koji, miso, amazake, and doburoku. There is also a tasting corner where you can experience the "fun of making" and "diversity of taste" of fermented foods .
• Workshops
Cheese and miso making experiences, cooking classes, etc. By visiting, you can get hints and new wisdom for your life .
🛋 Store & Gallery: A select space that enriches your life
• A selection of furniture, clothes, stationery, interior goods, and other carefully selected items from makers all over Japan and Shiga.
Supervised by Nara's "Kurumi no Ki", there is a wide selection of products that weave together local food and culture .
• There is also a book corner with about 3,000 books on food, lifestyle, folk crafts, and children's books, as well as a gallery space, so you can experience richness with all five senses .
☕ Cafe & Cafe Stand: Experience the heart of the creator
• Tea room: A spacious space with 42 seats overlooking the courtyard, where you can enjoy food menus and desserts using cheese and miso .
• Cafe Stand: Offers light meals and takeout menus that you can use while walking around Kurokabe Square.
🌍 Why is Lake Scuole so special?
1. A learning experience that connects to daily life through "fermentation" — Understand the depth of food while interacting with the makers at work.
2. A base for disseminating ingredients and culture unique to this region — Rediscover the blessings of Lake Biwa, the fermentation culture of Kohoku, and the appeal of local products.
3. A spatial design that responds to the five senses — A comfortable space where furniture, books, and art are combined in a white-based interior that lets in light.
