[2025 Matsue ] Travel Guide for Tamatsukuri Onsen (Updated Jul)

I went sightseeing in Shimane for 1 night and 2 days. | Izumo | First, I rented a car and went to "Inasa Beach" and "Izumo Taisha Shrine". 📝 It's recommended to go in November, when the gods from all over the country gather, as it's very lively! After the visit, I went on a food tour around Izumo Taisha Shrine 🍦 | Matsue | I moved to Matsue and went to Tamatsukuri Onsen ♨️ 🏨 Relax while eating and drinking at Tamai Annex. On the second day, I moved to | Shima |. I tried sand painting at the "Sand Museum" 🏛 They also have the largest hourglass in Japan that measures one year. It's a bit far, but I recommend you go there at least once. After that, I moved to Matsue again and went to "Yaegaki Shrine". Fortune telling is popular, where you float paper in Kagami-no-ike pond and see how far it takes for a coin to sink. We went to Tamasakuyu Shrine in the Tamazukuri Onsen area, a hot spring spot in Shimane Prefecture. The wish stones that can be purchased at the shrine office are all different in color and shape, so you can make them your own unique amulets! The bags that you put the wish stones in are also colorful and cute. The fun part is not knowing what you'll get until you open them☺️ Place the wish stone against the wish stone in the shrine and send it power. First time in Shimane Prefecture I planned this trip because I wanted to go to Izumo Taisha Shrine, but there were so many other attractive places that 3 nights just wasn't enough! Trip with my daughter who is in elementary school. We went to Izumo Taisha Shrine first thing in the morning. We rented bicycles and went to Inasa Beach and Shimane Winery. Izumo soba is the best! We also had zenzai. In Matsue, we stayed at Shinjiko Onsen and went up to Matsue Castle. The cherry blossoms were beautiful. We also went to Vogel Park and were very satisfied. We just didn't have enough time. Finally, we went to Tamatsukuri Onsen! It's a small hot spring town, but it's famous for its hot springs that are good for your skin. It's a shame that we didn't have much time to stay there. It's far from Tokyo, but we were able to ride the Yakumo, and in Shimane we bought a 2-day free pass so we could use various means of transportation freely. We'll definitely go again. Recommended. It was a wonderful spring break that made me feel like I was traveling for the first time in a while.
