"The Untold Story: Local Ghost Stories That Have Never Been Told" An exhibition that invites us to experience the universe of local ghosts through the characters of local ghosts in a very creative perspective.
This exhibition presents the stories of local ghosts hidden in the legends, beliefs, and cultures of Thai people in various regions. Reinterpreting these stories helps bring back to life the stories of local ghosts that have faded over time, conveyed through creative ideas by a group of Thai artists, who will change the image of ghost stories from being scary to a perspective that is full of beauty and depth in terms of art and culture.
👻 Zone 1: 'Awakening the Legends of Local Ghosts', immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the stories of local ghost legends that have existed since ancient times, and challenge our imagination that "What do these ghosts look like?" is an interesting start to opening your senses to the sense of mystery and excitement.
👻 Zone 2 'Hello New Ghosts' showcases over 90 local ghost characters newly created by 6 Thai artists: Linghokkalom, Ployjaploen, Autumnberry, MarkSuttipong, Tiicha and Twofeetcat. Each character is presented in a contemporary style and with a new perspective, making local ghost stories interesting and open to interpretation.
👻 Zone 3 'Prepare to Debut' We will explore the regional characteristics of local ghosts from all regions of Thailand, including how to elevate these stories into important cultural heritage and cultural treasures that can be further developed into creative industries.
This exhibition is like opening the world of 'local ghosts' for us to explore the regional characteristics of ghosts, the names of local ghosts, the characteristics of local ghosts according to stories. There are many ghosts that we have never heard of. Both from the North (Phi Ma Bong, Phi Ta Wod, Phi Ka (or Phi Kla), Phi Pak Ka Long, Phi Kai Noi), the Northeast (such as Phi Kong Koi (or Phi Ong Oi), Phi Pao, Phi Samoi Dong, Phi Pop, Phi Pu Phum, Phi Phum, Maren Kong Wiel (Phi Hua Saeng), Cha Kae Khamao, Manai Snon, Thom B, Aab), the South (Phi Lang Kluang, Phi Kling Klang Dong, Phi Kluai Phang La, Phi Pai Kha Keem, Phi Phrai), the Central (Phi Tamoi, Phi Khom, Phi Ta Phuk, Phi Ta Kala, Yai Kali, Phi Mae Tao Fai), and the ethnic ghosts (Che Yao, Phi Nya Ngo, Na Ko, Phi Da Po (Na) Song, Phi Mana).
This exhibition shows us the importance of preserving local cultural heritage, reviving ancient stories that help new generations understand and see the beauty of stories through art. It is also a way to develop cultural capital to create added value for the economy, create opportunities to create jobs in the creative industry, such as entertainment media development, product design, or even cultural tourism that can attract people to experience something unique.
