Authentic Neapolitan Pizza Making Workshop and Smart Hydroponic Farm Harvest Experience
Introduced by family, I discovered that Seed By Farmacy at Cyberport offers a pizza workshop where you can enjoy making your own pizza.
The workshop begins with an introduction to smart hydroponics. It turns out that it takes about 40 days for plants to grow from seeds to harvest, and if you cut them properly, they can regrow every 3-4 days. We got to taste freshly picked basil and purple butterfly leaves, which had a much stronger flavor compared to those bought from supermarkets. This is because vegetables lose nutrients after being harvested.
After experiencing the smart hydroponic farm harvest, we moved on to making pizza. Northern Italian pizzas are thinner, while Southern Italian pizzas are thicker, as they were traditionally made to be more filling in poorer regions. This time, we made a Margherita pizza, which is the quintessential Italian 🇮🇹 pizza, featuring green basil, white mozzarella, and red tomato sauce 🥫. We learned the technique of kneading pizza dough and the importance of evenly distributing cheese 🧀. If the cheese is too concentrated, its oil can easily tear the pizza during baking. After preparing the dough and adding the toppings, we got to step into the kitchen and bake the pizza in an oven imported from Italy.
Baked at a high temperature of around 400°C, the pizza was ready in about 90 seconds. Once done, we added Parmesan cheese and olive oil 🫒 before slicing and enjoying it.
In addition to the handmade pizza, we also ordered charcoal-grilled butter chicken, wagyu beef cheek rigatoni, and the SEEDnature mini potted dessert 🪴.
The charcoal-grilled butter chicken was slow-cooked, resulting in tender and juicy 🍗 meat. The chicken skin had a rich, smoky flavor, and the tangy and spicy homemade sauce elevated the dish's taste profile.
The wagyu beef cheek in the rigatoni was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the pasta held the sauce well. The Parmesan cheese added a savory touch.
The SEEDnature mini potted dessert featured delicate cream and cookie 🍪 crumbs, offering a rich texture without being overly sweet.
