Visiting Glasgow in January offered a completely different kind of charm—quiet streets, crisp air, and a calm that lingered after the holiday rush. The festive decorations were still up in some parts of the city, gently fading, but the crowds were gone. It felt like the perfect time to explore at my own pace. I started my trip in George Square. Though the Christmas market had closed, the square still had a soft winter glow. The city felt slower, more introspective. I enjoyed walking along Buchanan Street, where the post-holiday sales were in full swing and buskers played mellow tunes that matched the mood of the season. One of my favorite stops was Glasgow Cathedral. The gothic architecture against the pale winter sky was stunning. Nearby, the Necropolis offered peaceful views of the city, and the silence made the experience even more powerful. The wind was cold, but refreshing—it kept me moving and awake. I also spent time along the River Clyde. The waters were still, and the reflections of the city’s bridges created a beautiful scene. On my last day, I visited Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. It was warm, colorful, and full of life—exactly what I needed before stepping back into the winter chill. January in Glasgow wasn’t loud or dramatic, but it was beautifully still. I spent two days in Glasgow, and it was a wonderful experience. I arrived in the afternoon on the first day, so I didn’t have much time to explore far. After checking into my hotel, I decided to take a walk around the city centre. I started with Buchanan Street, which is one of the main shopping streets in Glasgow. The street was full of life, with many shops and cafes. After that, I visited the Gallery of Modern Art, which is located in the city centre as well. In front of the gallery, I saw the famous statue of the Duke of Wellington with a traffic cone on his head. I had read about this before coming to Glasgow, and it was funny to see it in real life. It is now seen as a symbol of the city's sense of humor. Inside the gallery, there were interesting modern art pieces and exhibitions. It was a nice way to end my first day. On the second day, I woke up early and walked up a hill called Necropolis, located near the cathedral, to watch the sunrise. The view of the city in the early morning light was peaceful and beautiful. After that, I went to Glasgow Cathedral, a historic and impressive building with Gothic architecture. I spent some time walking around the inside and also visited the nearby St Mungo Museum. Later in the day, I visited the University of Glasgow. The university buildings are old and beautiful, and they look like something from a movie. I walked around the campus and also visited the nearby Kelvingrove Park, which is a lovely green area perfect for relaxing. In the evening, I returned to the hill to see the sunset. The sky turned orange and pink, and it was a peaceful way to finish my short trip. I hope to return in the future and explore even more.

The necropolis is a cemetery located over a hill. Its architecture is what draws attention. Also several notable figures from the past have been laid to rest here. It's a unique place and as i walked around the craftsmanship in gravestone and erected enclosures was evident. The views are really good from here. You get to see the city and the cathedral too. There is strangely something relaxing about walking through these paths amidst graves and grass. The viewing and reading of headstones and if you happen to see a sunset here, that would really put you at ease. I think it's an interesting place.
