Wat Phra Kaew Chiang Khong
Wat Phra Kaew is a temple located in the heart of Chiang Khong, between the main road of Chiang Khong and the Mekong River, which is the Thai-Laos border. At the back of the temple, you can see a beautiful view of the Mekong River, as well as the view of the neighboring country, Huay Xai, Laos. Currently, the two friendly countries are connected by the 4th Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge (Chiang Khong-Huay Xai), another inscription of the relationship. Inside Wat Phra Kaew Chiang Khong, there are many ancient Buddha images, especially the Buddha images carved from the stones in the Mekong River, which are very beautiful. Wat Phra Kaew is one of the oldest temples in the Lanna region. There is a pagoda as important evidence, which contains the hair of the Lord Buddha. Mr. Songphon Kesupha, a former village headman, told the legend of the pagoda that Wat Phra Kaew was once a place where the Lord Buddha visited and gave 2 strands of hair to represent the Lord Buddha. Currently enshrined in two pagodas in Chiang Khong, Wat Chai Sathan and Wat Phra Kaew
