All Trip Moments about Scopello
Reliving cinematic classics, strolling through Cefalù's silver screen scenes
No matter what you do in the future, love it as much as you loved the cinema when you were a child.
🎬 This line from "Cinema Paradiso" seems to set a tender tone for this Sicilian journey. From the azure skies and seas of Tonnara di Scopello to the golden sunsets of Cefalù, every frame is etched in memory like a movie still.
🚗 Travel Tips
Tonnara di Scopello + Cefalù
Considering the inconvenient transportation to Tonnara di Scopello, we opted for a private car.
♣️ Tonnara di Scopello
Non-guests can pay €15 per person for photo access. On our visit, it was closed for a private wedding, though the official website showed normal operations. To be safe, call ahead to confirm opening status. If available, staying overnight is highly recommended.
♣️ Cefalù
🚄 Transport: 50-minute train from Palermo, with the station within walking distance to the town center.
🎐 Highly recommended spots:
🔹 La Rocca
The scenic hike up from mid-slope offers panoramic views of both the sea and the entire town. Entrance fee: €5/person.
🔹 Porta Pescara
The famous filming location from "Cinema Paradiso."
🔹 Cefalù Village
A charming, old-fashioned southern Italian fishing village perfect for aimless wandering.
🔹 Cefalù Beach
Golden sands and crystal-clear waters ideal for sunbathing or swimming.
🔹 Sunset at the Coastline
The main street is lined with shops and restaurants. About an hour before sunset, grab an outdoor spot with a view, order two classic Italian Campari drinks, and enjoy the sea breeze as the sun dips below the horizon, painting the coastal town in hues worthy of an oil painting.

I stayed in this charming place for 3 days for a wedding. The location is beautiful and if you are lucky enough to visit, you will get a glimpse of Sicily that will remain in your heart. A characteristic small village used by fishermen for the famous 'tuna slaughter'. Also interesting is the story related to the Florio family (who owned a tuna fishery) from which the book 'The Lion of Sicily' was born.
One of the most beautiful places I have ever seen 🤩
It has a great location and at some points you can admire the magnificent landscapes, and it is worth seeing in some areas of the year, as it is the entrance to the natural park, the tuna fishery and strangely only accessible for a fee. Because unfortunately in Sicily there are many outdoor places and there are also resorts where it is objectively unclear how you can settle in such an important place on a historical level for photography and for fans of tourism and travel.
Tonnara di Scopello

Stunning place. The pure beauty of the mediterranen sea. Crystal clear water. Super nice sunbeds with shade (if you come early Enough) parking around. Amazing deep water. 15€ entrance pp totally worth it. We love rocky little bays so it was perfect and the views… 😍 You pay 15€ /adult for access. You Will get a sunchair, access to the small beach a small Museum tour and a great feeling from the beautifull atmosphere. Came here with small Kids and they also enjoyed it. Great for snorkeling around the rocky cliffs. Drink and snacks can be bought here. I was able to swim a lot here. This place is a no drone zone, gently reminded by the staff when they saw me flying
Beautiful location and it's worth buying the entrance ticket which includes the use of a deckchair. The bar was closed and we only discovered it at the entrance and not from the website when we bought the tickets. To avoid having to go back from the Tonnara to the main road and walk a kilometer - as we were forced to do - it is best to buy freshly prepared cunzati sandwiches at the market located a couple of kilometers before accessing the tuna fishery
With the cost of entry they give you a deckchair and explain life in the tuna fishery by showing you the various tools for catching tuna. The place is gorgeous, you can swim in crystal clear waters. You can stay in the tuna fishery from 10am until 7pm, there is a 10 euro car park nearby all day, an enchanting place.
