#Hong Kong Good Places The scenery on the mountain is beautiful, the evening breeze blows, the fallen leaves sway, and when you are hungry, find something to eat! We arrived at Mingfang Restaurant on the third floor of Shuiquanao Village Square. There was a spacious hall and the waiter was already standing at the door, welcoming us with a smile. I chose a seat near a large window so that I could enjoy the night view of Sha Tin from above while eating. It’s a unique experience! Cuitang tofu is smooth and delicious, the roast chicken has thin skin and soft meat, and the pomelo bones are appetizing, sweet and sour, and the meat is tender and very tasty. The shaban is freshly cooked, the meat is tender and the skin is smooth, just right for the taste buds. Portuguese cheese baked broccoli is crispy, sweet and cheesy, and you can’t stop drooling over it. The seafood winter melon soup has soft melon and big lotus seeds with a good chewy texture. This summer, a bowl of winter melon soup can clear away heat and keep you healthy! The food was delicious, the night view was pleasant, and living in the present moment made me feel so happy!

Stumbled upon these while looking for restrooms—pleasant surprises! - **Sha Tin Park**: Just a short walk through from the library. A peaceful riverside stroll awaits. - **Hong Kong Heritage Museum**: Surprisingly fantastic! (Personally, I prefer it over the Hong Kong Museum.) - A 10-15min walk from Sha Tin Park. No reservation needed—just walk in! - Opening Hours: Mon, Wed, Fri: 10am–6pm Sat, Sun, Public Holidays: 10am–7pm Last entry 30min before closing. Allow 2-3h to explore. - Features permanent (🆓) and special exhibitions (some may require tickets). - Highlights include the Louis Cha (Jin Yong) exhibition on the 1st floor, showcasing his manuscripts and vintage adaptations of his works. - The Bruce Lee exhibit is a must-see—rare growth footage, movie stills, and classic posters will transport you back in time. In the indigenous villages of Hong Kong there is this idea of the “wai,” wherein the villagers built their villages surrounded by a brick wall. “Wai” means a girdle, and these villages are usually referred to as “Wai villages,” or “walled villages.” These walls were meant to be fortifications, chiefly to protect the villagers from both pirates and wild animals. The reasons for Tsang Tai Uk’s unique features in its layout are closely tied to its history. The founder of the village, Tsang Koon Man, built this walled village in 1847 with the typical village layout of his own Hakka hometown in mind. He came from Ng Wah. Proper historic accounts tell the story of Tsang Koon Man, a mason in trade, who had a quarry in Sai Wan Ho and a masonry in Shau Kei Wan. He began his business by serving as an apprentice in the then-thriving quarry businesses in Lei Yue Mun. Then he founded the Sam Li Masonry. At the time, the Hong Kong Government had plans for many infrastructure projects that required granites. As such he prospered greatly from his businesses. Legend has it that one day, some pirates approached Tsang Koon Man with 12 large urns of dried salted fish. They asked for $800 per urn, and so Tsang bought them. He later found out that, beneath the dried salted fish, the urn contained all silver and gold coins. The pirates never returned and he kept these 12 urns of treasures. With enormous wealth, he decided to contribute to the good of his clan by constructing a village. Although the surname Tsang does not belong to one of the “five great clans” of the New Territories, this clan of the Tsang’s have settled down in Hong Kong for 300 years, as early as the 17th century. As residents of Shatin, the Tsang’s were also prominent members of the community. Tsang Tai House is located between Sha Tin Wai Station and Che Kong Miu Station on the MTR MTR Line. It is one of the best-preserved Hakka Wai villages in Hong Kong. Usually when I take the bus, I often pass by and see Tsang O House Station. Looking down, there is only a football field. Today I have time to get off the bus here and visit Tsang O House. The playground is built along the train bridge from Che Kong Miu Station to Sha Tin Wai Station. In addition to a football field, there are several tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, badminton courts, and outdoor table tennis tables. Next to it is the entrance to Tsang House, first you can see the public toilet, then the villagers' parking lot, the village retains 150-year-old granite, blue brick and wood buildings and other buildings, the village has a fortress at the four corners, in the early 20th century when piracy was rampant, played a defensive role.
