⛰️Utsukushigahara Plateau | Shinshu's proud grassland in the sky
✨ 360° Panoramic View
The Utsukushigahara Plateau, which spreads across a large plateau at an altitude of about 2,000m, is a spectacular spot where you can see more than 40 of Japan's 100 famous mountains, including the Northern Alps, Southern Alps, Yatsugatake, and Mt. Fuji. The scenery of the plateau swaying in the wind is like a postcard.
⸻
🚶♀️ Easy hiking is also ◎
• Utsukushi Tower: A symbolic tower that rings a bell to let you know the direction on foggy days, and is perfect for taking a break or taking a commemorative photo.
• Oga-gashira (2,034m): The highest peak on the plateau. A gentle hiking trail allows you to enjoy a sea of clouds, sunrises and sunsets with ease, for a full-fledged experience above the clouds.
• Oga-hana: A spectacular spot with a group of stone Buddhas lined up on the cliffs that gives a sense of history.

🐄 Grazing & Alpine Plants
From late May to mid-October, the pasture landscape spreads out, with about 200 cows grazing on the grass, and over 200 types of alpine plants, such as rhododendrons and primulas, add color to the four seasons.
⸻
🎨 Art and Gourmet
• Utsukushigahara Highland Museum: Japan's only outdoor museum, with over 350 outdoor sculptures scattered across the grassland. The collaboration between the artworks and the scenery is appealing.
• Utsukushigahara Highland Roadside Station: Japan's highest roadside station. Enjoy an observation terrace, local gourmet food (mountain hut curry, soft serve ice cream), and a wide selection of souvenirs.
• Utsukushi Terrace: Enjoy sky-blue drinks such as "Cloud Soda" with cotton candy floating in it, which will look great on social media.

🌟 A different world of nature and the night sky
With a 360° open environment, it is also popular as a spot for starry skies and sea of clouds. If you stay at a nearby hotel (such as Ogato Hotel), you can experience starry sky photos and dramatic sunrises.
