Wat Sri Udomporn, Nakhon Sawan Province
Wat Sri Uthumphon, or Wat Wang Duea, or Wat Luang Pho Choi, is located in Mueang District, Nakhon Sawan Province, approximately 25 kilometers from the city center. It is a temple that Nakhon Sawan people respect and believe in because it is a temple where Luang Pho Choi, a famous monk from Pak Nam Pho, was once the abbot until he passed away. He was a monk who developed and was nicknamed the “God of Pak Nam Pho.” Currently, the temple has kept Luang Pho Choi’s remains in a pavilion. You can come and pay homage. In addition, it is a temple with unique beauty, with exposed stucco mixed with Benjarong porcelain and tiles. It is beautifully graceful and colorful, including the pavilion, the elevated Ubosot with a hundred pillars, and the Thai-style pavilion.
When you arrive, you will be struck by the deep red pavilion and the white pagodas on either side. There is a door arch and a long naga staircase. The stucco and carving patterns are very beautiful and graceful, including the stucco Naga, three-headed elephants, white deities standing guard between the stairs, and the giants between the entrance doors.
Inside the chapel, there is the image of Luang Pho Phra Prathan and the body of Luang Pho Choi, which has not decayed, for the public and tourists to pay homage to. The walls are decorated with Buddhist paintings and beautiful gold-lacquered patterns.
Beside the pavilion, there is a 2-storey chapel that is beautifully graceful and delicately crafted by the craftsmen. The entrance on the lower floor is a statue of Hanuman with an open mouth. When you enter, you will be amazed by the beautiful stucco and colorful tiles on the pillars, walls, and ceilings. In the center, there are many Buddha images. There is also a drum tower and bell tower, which are made entirely of teak wood. Inside, there is a green jade Buddha image and wax figures of various gurus. There is a magical knife tower, which has the largest 3-ton medicine knife in the world. This is another very beautiful temple in Nakhon Sawan and you should not miss seeing the delicate and unusual architecture of this temple.
