The charm of Woninjae
#July Travel Support Fund
The biggest charm of Woninjae was its tranquility
Unlike other tourist attractions in Incheon, Woninjae was neither flashy nor crowded. So, I was able to face myself in that quiet atmosphere and spend some time with nature. When I sat in the pavilion, the wind gently brushed my collar and birds chirped through the bamboo. It was a very comforting space just to sit still and do nothing. #Songdo

Visit to Woninjae
Located near Songdo in Incheon, visiting Woninjae felt like taking a short yet profound journey. Stepping back onto the city streets after exploring the area, it was as if I had traveled back in time. For a brief moment, I encountered the spirit of the Joseon era and had the chance to reflect on myself amidst the serene nature. It was undoubtedly a unique experience, one that is rare in everyday life. This is a place worth visiting in all four seasons.

It's simply a great place to take a slow walk, sit for a while, and organize your thoughts. When your mind feels a bit weary or cluttered, spending some quiet time in a place like this seems like a wonderful idea. I hope to visit again when the autumn leaves are in full color.

Incheon Woninjae
Although the interior of Woninjae was not very large, each space displayed meaningful artifacts and materials. It provided an easy-to-understand introduction to the life, philosophy, and spiritual legacy of Yi Won-ik. Exhibits included personal belongings that reflected the frugal life of a scholar, handwritten phrases, and materials explaining the scholarship and principles of the Joseon Dynasty. The exhibition was more profound and resonant than expected.
