[2025 Osaka Attraction] Travel Guide for World Expo Museum (Updated Jul)

I planned a full day at the 2025 Osaka Expo, and I must say that advance planning is absolutely essential! We reserved a 9 AM entry slot and arrived at the venue by 8 AM to queue up. Even at that early hour, there were already plenty of people waiting to get in. The popularity of the Expo is truly impressive! 🔥 There are numerous pavilions, but many of the popular ones require advance lottery-based reservations, such as the Gundam Pavilion, Monster Hunter Pavilion, and null2 Pavilion. These cannot be accessed on-site without prior arrangements, so if you don’t plan ahead, you’ll only be able to take photos from the outside. For first-time visitors, I recommend selecting a few must-see themed pavilions to reserve in advance, and then using the remaining time to explore freely. The venue is enormous, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and prepare a schedule! Overall, the experience is incredibly enriching. With proper preparation, you can truly make the most of your visit.

✓ Indonesia Pavilion The atmosphere created by the staff at the Indonesia Pavilion is unmatched. The welcoming hostess at the entrance is like a concert MC, expertly energizing the crowd. The waiting area is adorned with traditional Balinese handcrafted masks. At first, it might not seem like much, but as the hostess stirs up excitement, the opening of the doors reveals a tropical rainforest scene that delivers a strong visual impact—truly awe-inspiring, even if some of the animals look a bit artificial. Inside the pavilion, there are intricate mosaic patterns reminiscent of a kaleidoscope, showcasing the vibrant Austronesian culture. There’s also a video introducing the local indigenous culture, making it a worthwhile visit.

✓Malaysia Pavilion Located next to Ireland, the exterior is constructed with bamboo, showcasing cultural charm, street food, traditional crafts, and innovative technology. The centerpiece is a giant tree made of bamboo sieves, which looks stunning under colorful lights. Stepping into the Malaysia Pavilion feels like traveling to the country itself. The food stall models are incredibly lifelike, exuding a strong Southeast Asian vibe and fully displaying Malaysia's vibrant and diverse cultural heritage. In addition to showcasing local snacks and traditional features, the pavilion also highlights Malaysia's technological innovations, including an AI robot! Visitors can even try on traditional Malaysian attire. A full tour of the pavilion takes at least 30 minutes.

#7月好去地方2025 ✓ Ireland This is the first pavilion I came across when I entered the Big Root House. Since there were few people at 9 o'clock, I went in to have a look. The exterior is made of wooden fences, and the pavilion presents the unique ecosystem of Ireland. It is humid and rainy. Could it be that even the moss and ferns were brought from Ireland? There is a beautiful Irish harp in the pavilion, which is played by a special person from time to time and is open to visitors. Some antiques of the indigenous people of Ireland are also displayed on site, and there is a circular screen playing Irish sightseeing videos. It is a small and beautiful pavilion. No reservation is required for the Irish Pavilion, and you have to queue up on site to enter.

I visited the Osaka Expo during its opening week in April. At that time, I had a 10 AM reservation, but due to long lines, I waited for about an hour and entered at 11 AM. I spent around 3 hours enjoying the daytime experience until I left at 2 PM. I was so satisfied with the experience that I wanted to visit again at night. So, I booked a night ticket for late June and revisited the expo. Night admission is available from 5 PM to 9 PM, and I arrived around 7 PM. I also chose a hotel close to the expo venue. The hotel shuttle took me to Cosmosquare Station, right in front of the expo. Entering at 7 PM was seamless, with no lines at all. I visited the Wind Area, where many Japanese companies were showcased, and the Atom Pavilion, both of which required only about 7 minutes of waiting. Even the official souvenir shop, which seemed daunting during the day, was easy to enter after 8 PM without any lines. I spent 5,000 yen on Hello Kitty merchandise but didn’t end up buying anything from the Atom Pavilion. The highlight of the visit was taking stunning night photos. At 9 PM, I left for Yumeshima Station. The journey back to the hotel involved three transfers. Even with just 2 hours, I was able to fully enjoy the atmosphere of the expo. Thank you!

The designer is Sou Fujimoto, one of the most talented designers in modern Japan. He graduated from the University of Tokyo and is still teaching at the University of Tokyo. The Taiwan Tower, which was canceled in Taichung, was also designed by him. The new landmark of Tainan, Nancheng Lane, is also his work. The circumference is 2 kilometers, the outer side is up to 20 meters, and the skywalk is 12 meters high. If you take a walk here during the interval between the exhibition hall reservations, you can enjoy the sea breeze and appreciate the exhibition halls from a high perspective. Because I love wooden buildings, after buying food, I specially took a rest in the seating area under the big house while appreciating the power and beauty of Japanese construction methods. I chatted with the volunteers and learned that the big house used nearly 30,000 cubic meters of wood, 1/3 of which came from Fukushima. After the nuclear disaster, the Northeast developed forestry resources for revitalization, and the Osaka Expo also implied the intention of cheering for the Northeast. There were a lot of people at the 6/26 World Expo. From Honmachi Station, you can reach Yumezu Station in 20 minutes. The East Entrance is right outside the subway station, which is very convenient.

Iron legs should be a common experience of tourists who go to the World Expo, so it is recommended that those who really want to go must do their homework, make reservations, and spread out many days, otherwise you will waste a lot of time just standing in line without seeing any projects. The best way is to live near the MRT line, make reservations for various venues, and then enjoy the fun brought by the World Expo. If you rush there on a whim (like me), it is recommended to buy a few days of evening admission tickets, so that you can visit more venues and not be too tired.

Went to the World Expo 2025 on 9 June 2025. Started off with a cloudy day but it started raining in the afternoon, which made more people gather under the ring. I only managed to reserve the Netherlands Pavilion in advance, and tried to book for same day reservations but didnt manage to get any. Nonetheless I enjoyed my time at some of the non-reserved pavilions such as the China Pavilion. There were many food options there too and the toilets were really clean.#travel #osaka

I went to the Kansai Expo in the rain! I was a little worried because I couldn't get a reservation for the pavilion 7 days or 3 days in advance. But in the end, I had a lot of fun◎ My ticket was a night ticket (17:00-22:00), but now for a limited time, you can enter from 16:00! I went to the East Gate early. The train, station, and venue were not that crowded, so I was able to enter smoothly. First, I went straight to try the "Myaku Myaku Lottery", but the lottery was closed at 16:15 (tears). It was too popular... I pulled myself together and went around looking for a relatively empty pavilion with the goal of "going around as much as possible!" I went around the places where I could enter with a wait time of about 20 to 30 minutes. We were able to enter the ✅Malaysia Pavilion, ✅Philippines Pavilion, and ✅Commons (area experience) near the East Gate right away. On the other hand, there were long lines of 90 to 120 minutes waiting for the France Pavilion and the United States Pavilion, so we gave up this time. We also climbed up to the large roof ring and moved to another area from there. We were able to enter the ✅Brazil Pavilion and ✅Oman Pavilion smoothly! Then, from around 9 p.m., the fun drone show started. We got a venue-only menu at the 7-Eleven in front of the Netherlands Pavilion and watched while eating. It was more impressive than we imagined and we were moved.✨ On the way back, we took a taxi from the West Gate. We were nervous that we might not be able to enter without a reservation, but in the end we were very satisfied to be able to go around four pavilions and one commons! Both adults and children had fun and it was a day that made us think, "I want to go again!" By the way, we highly recommend bringing a raincoat on rainy days! Umbrellas are quite a nuisance when waiting in line... I was glad we had a raincoat!
