Tudigong Temple is located on Mount Xianye in Xiamen, Fujian Province. It was first built during the Song Dynasty and is commonly known as the "Yanzinei Tudigong Temple". It was built during the Zhengde period of the Ming Dynasty. The temple fell into disrepair and suddenly a tiger appeared on the mountain. The community living near the pond donated money to rebuild the Tudigong Temple. The neighbors around Mount Xianye all went to worship with incense and candles and made loud noises. The tiger was frightened and ran away from the mountain, swimming across the sea with grass on its head, expressing the divine power of the god of the earth. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, and the Xuantong period, the villagers rebuilt the temple many times, and built roads on the mountain and stone steps leading to the temple. It became very popular and people from far and near came to worship. In 1938, Xiamen was attacked by Japanese invaders who invaded Tangbian Village, burned down dozens of houses, and killed seven people. But the villagers who hid in the Tudi Gong Temple were able to escape the disaster. In 1959, a typhoon destroyed the temple, and the incense business went bankrupt. After the reform and opening up, everything was restored, and the villagers began to rebuild the temple, and it became more and more popular again. This temple combines the excellent traditional architectural techniques of southern Fujian Province and the national intangible cultural heritage, such as root carving, painting, and wood carving, which is full of cultural charm.
