[2025 Dalian Attraction] Travel Guide for Xinghai Bay Beach (Updated Jul)

If you're looking for a place to enjoy after indulging in the culinary delights of Dalian, head straight to Xinghai Square. Nearby, you can visit the Dalian Forest Zoo and take a cable car to enjoy breathtaking views of the Xinghai Bay Bridge and the open sea. Although we had to skip the cable car ride due to the massive Labor Day holiday crowds, the stunning views near the boarding area were more than enough. We walked down to Xinghai Square, and the path was beautifully decked out like Korea's Namsan walking trails, making it a pleasant stroll with views of the sea, flowers, and trees. Just before crossing the bridge to Xinghai Square, we stumbled upon a charming camper van coffee shop. Sitting there with a refreshing iced Americano while admiring the spectacular view was an unforgettable travel moment! Xinghai Square is much larger than expected. It features an amusement park reminiscent of Wolmido, European-style restaurants, cafes, pubs along the coastal path, and even a beach for water activities. At a pub with a view of the Xinghai Bay Bridge, we enjoyed Dalian beer and lamb skewers, which instantly washed away the fatigue of travel. At night, the square comes alive with fountain shows, laser displays, and a bustling night market, making it a great spot to enjoy until late. There's also a famous dim sum restaurant, Xiding, nearby, so it's highly recommended to visit both together!

In Dalian, a northern coastal city, Shahekou District is like a low-key yet charming gem, exuding a unique charm that awaits your exploration. Historical Origins: Traces of Time The name Shahekou District originated in modern times. According to the "Jinzhouwei Mountains and Rivers Geography Records," this was the estuary of the Shahe River (now Malan River) in the Ming Dynasty, hence the name. In 1899, when Tsarist Russia established the Kwantung Leased Territory, Dalian City had three districts: Shijie, Laohutan, and Shahekou. Shahekou District officially appeared. Since then, its jurisdiction has been adjusted many times, but it has always carried the memory of Dalian. On February 3, 1946, the Shahekou District People's Government was established, opening a new chapter. Although the hustle and bustle of the former estuary has long gone, the weight of history remains to this day. Regional Overview: An Important Part of the City Shahekou District is located in the central part of Dalian City and is the heart of the city. It is adjacent to Xigang District to the east by Bulao Street, connected to Ganjingzi District to the north by Nansong Road, faces the High-tech Zone to the west by Youjiacun Railway Line, and faces the Yellow Sea to the south, with a superior geographical location. The district covers an area of 48.32 square kilometers. Although the area is not large, it is the largest and most populous central urban area in Dalian, with a registered population of 590,000 and a permanent population of 670,000. It has 7 subdistricts and 94 communities. The population is dense, the atmosphere of life is strong, and the streets and alleys are full of daily life. Humanistic Style: Cultural Charm and Scholarly Fragrance Here, the cultural heritage is profound. The former site of the China Institute of Technology and the former site of Prince Shotoku Memorial Hall, as well as many other provincial and municipal cultural relics protection units, witness the vicissitudes of Shahekou District. They stand quietly, telling stories of the past. At the same time, Shahekou District is rich in scientific and educational resources. The Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Northeast University of Finance and Economics, and many other universities and scientific research institutes gather here, creating a strong academic atmosphere and providing strong intellectual support for regional development. In the campus, the figures of students complement the ancient buildings, inheriting knowledge and culture. Tourist Attractions: Romance and Knowledge Coexist Shahekou District is rich in tourism resources. Xinghai Square, as the largest city square in Asia, has green grass and charming sea views. During the day, you can fly kites and ride bicycles to feel the caress of the sea breeze; at night, you can enjoy the gorgeous light show and immerse yourself in romantic moments. Xinghai Bay Beach is a great place to escape the summer heat. The delicate sand and clear water allow people to enjoy the comfort of the sun and beach. The Dalian Natural History Museum has a rich collection of natural specimens and cultural relics, which is a knowledge palace for increasing knowledge. Fuguo Park, Black Stone Reef Park, etc., have beautiful scenery and fresh air, and are good places for leisure walks. Walking among them can relax both body and mind. The attractions we visited are as follows: 1️⃣ Oriental Venice Water City or "Venice of the East" 🛶 This is one of the places you shouldn't miss!! This city is a replica of Venice, Italy. There are canals running through the city, creating a romantic and exciting atmosphere. You can ride a gondola like in Italy. There are also many restaurants and shops. 2️⃣ Dalian Conventional Center 🏢 Dalian Conventional Center is a modern convention and exhibition center located in the central business district. It regularly hosts world-class conferences and exhibitions. 3️⃣ Xinghai Park 🏞️ For nature lovers, Xinghai Park or "Xinghai Park" is the best place to relax in Dalian. It is located near the beach and has a beautiful sea view. Suitable for walking and sightseeing 4️⃣ Xinghai Square 🌇 Xinghai Square or "Xinghai Square" is one of the largest squares in Asia and is the center of tourism in Dalian. It has prominent statues and beautiful architecture, and the sea view can be seen from this square. #celebrateit Dalian is sometime underestimated but believe me it’s full of things to do and way to celebrate you important even. One of the ways is to go to the giant bridge in the evening before the sunset so you can walk there and drink coffee in one of the cozy places, enjoy the sunset and then watch the spectacular show: hundreds of light beams pointing at the sky and changing their colours.
