[2025 Baoshan Attraction] Travel Guide for Xinzhai Village (Updated Jul)

Five years ago when I just retired, I started searching worldwide for the perfect retirement spot. After visiting many places, I finally settled in the Xinzhai Tropical River Valley and never wanted to leave! Now whenever I chat with my old friends, I can't help but recommend this place - it's literally my "dream retirement paradise"! ✔️Unlike Dali which is always crowded or Sanya with its sky-high prices, this hidden gem near the Nujiang River bend is like an undiscovered treasure - incredibly low-key. But once you live here, you'll love picking fresh fruits anytime and soaking in natural hot springs. Who wouldn't adore this lifestyle? ✔️The climate here is absolutely perfect! At 680m altitude, it's extremely comfortable with dry, fresh air that's never stuffy. Year-round temperatures stay between 21-26°C - just add a light jacket for morning walks, and short sleeves are fine at noon. With 85% forest coverage and PM2.5 consistently in single digits, I can now climb stairs without getting winded - my lungs feel ten years younger! ✔️The scenery is beyond words! Backed by the Gaoligong Mountains (home to 30% of China's rare plants) and facing the majestic Nujiang Grand Canyon, the natural resources are incredibly rich. Morning hikes take you through drifting clouds, while afternoon riverside walks reveal emerald-green waters. The best part? Hardly any crowds - I feel like I have this paradise all to myself every day! ✔️What gives me most peace of mind is the medical care. There's a tertiary hospital outpatient clinic right downstairs (pharmacy just 100m away), and for emergencies, a top-tier hospital is just 30 minutes away. The town even has helicopter emergency rescue that can get you to a top hospital in 15 minutes. Our town health managers remind me to take medicine and check blood pressure more diligently than my own daughter! ✔️Living amenities are super complete too! With high-speed rail and airport nearby, it's easy for my kids to visit. The town has 25 sulfur hot springs (my knee pain disappeared after regular soaks), and community gardens where you can pick vegetables for free. Last month I learned to make mango jam with my neighbors!

Hike along the Baihualing Ancient Trail, a winding path that leads you through towering ancient trees that block out the sun, and moss-covered stone paths. The Baihualing Ancient Trail is part of the Gaoligong Mountain section of the ancient Southern Silk Road. As you walk along the trail, you can feel the weight of history and see the hoofprints and rusty horseshoes on the stone slabs, as if you have traveled back in time to see the caravans struggling along the trail, with the sound of camel bells ringing in your ears. As you climb the steps, you can hear the roar of water in the distance. Deep in the forest, the 100-meter-high Beauty Waterfall cascades down from above. The waterfall is narrow at the top and wide at the bottom, resembling a beautiful woman with long, flowing hair that glistens in the sunlight. When you're tired, you can soak in the wild hot springs. Roll up your pants and dip your feet in the hot springs, or put on a swimsuit and immerse your whole body. You'll feel completely relaxed and refreshed. After exploring the forest, waterfall, and hot springs, you can go birdwatching at Baihualing Village. The biodiversity of Gaoligong Mountain provides a habitat for various bird species, making it one of the most diverse bird areas in China. Over 500 bird species have been recorded here, accounting for about one-third of China's bird species and half of Yunnan's bird species. It is truly a bird paradise and a five-star birdwatching destination in China. Baihualing Village has more than 20 birdwatching ponds, where birds are regularly fed. The birds come to feed, fight, and show off their colorful feathers and graceful movements, while photographers wait patiently to capture precious moments. At Baihualing Scenic Area, you can visit Xinzhaicun, the first coffee village in China, to enjoy the scenery of coffee plantations and experience the fun of picking, processing, roasting, grinding, and brewing coffee. You can also enjoy a variety of tropical fruits. You can visit the Bingmen Banyan Tree Cluster, the Double Rainbow Bridge, and other attractions along the Southern Silk Road. After your visit, you'll feel that it was worth the trip and great value for money.

🗓 Itinerary: On the way from Tengchong to Baoshan by car, first visit China's No.1 Coffee Village, Xinzhai Village. The village has murals, coffee shops, and a few coffee industry parks. Arrive in Baoshan in the evening and went to the main store of Huopiao Beef. The next day, did a simple city walk Bajie Temple - Reclining Buddha Temple - Qinglong Street (Papaya Water and the Centennial Tea House are worth visiting)
