Guiping Zhongshan Park is located in the northwest of the city, covering an area of 96 mu, with a lake area of 25 mu. In the Ming Dynasty, it was the private garden of Ma Wenxiang, a Beijing official, and was formerly known as Ma's Garden. On October 21, 1921, Mr. Sun Yat-sen, the Provisional President, discussed the Northern Expedition with the warlord Chen Jiongming. On his way from Wuzhou to Nanning, he stopped in Guiping and climbed Xishan Mountain. After the tour, he returned and took a rest under the ancient banyan tree in the park. Mr. Sun Yat-sen saw the beautiful scenery in the park and told people to build the park well to benefit the local people. In the 1930s, Li Juejun, the county magistrate of Guiping, invited Huang Yinwu to serve as the director of the county government construction department and the park management office. Huang Yinwu actively built the park. In 1936, in memory of Mr. Sun Yat-sen, it was turned into Zhongshan Park. The famous geographer Xu Xiake once visited here and wrote "Baishi Travel Notes", which makes people imagine the thrilling scene of "cliff must go" when reading it. The unique landform of Baishi Mountain attracts tourists from all over the country. The peaks here are steep, and it was also a famous Taoist and Buddhist holy place. There are two main ways to visit Baishi Mountain. One is to walk along the foot of the mountain to see the mountain forest scenery and the Buddhist and Taoist sites such as Shousheng Temple and Sanqing Temple along the way; the other is to start a mountain climbing trip along the "Yixiantian". Longtan National Forest Park is located 18 km from Guiping City, in the Jintian Forest Farm of the Dayao Mountain Range. At noon, we returned from the Jintian Uprising Site of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and passed by the park. According to the travel guide, Longtan is a must-see. There are more than 5 km of winding mountain roads from the entrance to the main scenic area of Longtan. The car drove slowly, and we opened the windows. Known as Guangxi's No. 1 Tower, the East Tower is located next to the East Tower Village Primary School in Xunwang Township, Guiping City, less than 11 km from the city center. After getting off the highway, the car enters a small village road, and after a few turns, you will arrive at the bottom of the East Tower. This 50-meter-high octagonal pavilion-style brick tower has stood here for more than 400 years, which is nothing short of a miracle. As early as the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1573), a prefect named Liu Wan'an in Guiping County built a two-story tower, which was increased to the current nine-story tower during the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty (1628-1644). At first glance, the tower's pearl-white exterior looks very stable, simple, and solemn. It is now a key cultural relic protection unit in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. I walked around the tower, admiring its unique features and taking photos from different angles. The East Tower is the core attraction of the scenic area, and there is also a Ming Dynasty ancient brick kiln that is more than 300 years old, which was destroyed by Japanese bombing. In recent years, the relevant departments of Guiping City have restored the site. Walking down the slope from the ancient brick kiln site, you will reach the riverbank. This river is called the Xunjiang River, and there are cargo ships sailing on the river. The most eye-catching thing on the shore is the tall beacon lighthouse. Looking along the lighthouse, wow, in front of you is the place where the two rivers (Qianjiang River and Yujiang River) meet. I stepped on the gray soil on the riverbank and ran like a child in the direction of the confluence of the two rivers, getting closer and closer, admiring the strange picture that nature brings us.
