This Easter Sunday 2025, we took a spontaneous day trip from Brisbane to Mooloolaba—and it turned out to be the perfect blend of chill, charm, and coastal beauty. Getting There: Mooloolaba is just a 1.5-hour drive from Brisbane, making it an easy and scenic day trip. We parked at SEA LIFE Mooloolaba (plenty of space, great spot!), then walked just 3 minutes to reach the golden sands. Parking: Free or paid options near SEA LIFE Beach Access: Completely FREE Why Mooloolaba Beach Stole Our Hearts: Soft white sand and crystal-clear waters—picture-perfect Crowded? Yes. But still peaceful and friendly Great for people-watching, swimming, sunbathing, and just soaking up the views Views of the Pacific Ocean, surfers catching waves, and families building sandcastles—pure Aussie joy TIP: Pack a picnic or beach mat and settle in for a few hours. From March 4th to 8th, the Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) delegation, led by CEO Mark Olsen, embarked on a visit to China with nine leading tourism enterprises from the region. The delegation visited Shenzhen and Guangzhou, engaging with Chinese travel partners through seven tailored events to showcase Tropical North Queensland's unique tourism resources. Home to two World Heritage sites—the world's oldest rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef, the only living organism visible from outer space—the TTNQ delegation aimed to strengthen its presence in the Chinese market and accelerate the return of Chinese tourists to the region. Currently, the number of Chinese visitors to Tropical North Queensland is steadily recovering. In the year ending September 2024, international visitor numbers have rebounded to 61% of the same period in 2019, with Greater China representing the market with the greatest growth potential. Data from the Tourism Research Australia (TRA) indicates a full recovery of Chinese visitor numbers by 2027. Mr. Mark Olsen, CEO of TTNQ, stated: "Since reopening after the pandemic, TTNQ has collaborated closely with Cairns Airport and industry partners to rebuild air capacity to and from China. Wonderful exhibits in the Anzac Legacy Gallery, Lost Creatures, Wild State and Discovery Centre galleries. The skeleton of 'Mutt" the herbivorous dinosaur, the fossilised tracks of the dinosaur stampede, wedge tailed eagles, mammals, reptiles, birds, relics and personal records from the wars, and so much more on display and all for free.
