📍 Review of a 7-day, 6-night Georgia trip from April 25 to May 1, 2023. The time we went was the change of seasons, meaning the snow was melting and entering spring. The weather was quite unstable. On this trip, we encountered rain, sun, and snow. However, we encountered light rain almost every day. Fortunately, it didn't rain all day. It only lasted for a short while. —- 💸The total cost of the trip was approximately 52,000 baht**Only for our part. All expenses were split 5 between us and my friend. The only difference was the airfare that we didn't purchase at the same time + shopping expenses. —- 📍 There were 5 of us on this trip, flying with Qatar Airways both ways. Stopover at Doha, ticket price is 27k - 32k (book with many friends but not at the same time, price fluctuates a lot) —- 🚐 The route is Tbilisi 1 night > Gudauri 1 night > Kazbegi 2 nights > Tbilisi 2 nights We booked a car with a driver guide for a total of 4 days because we thought it would be safer not to drive ourselves. We will not charge any additional fees later because everything is included. Our guide, Merab Kvitsiani, is a very good driver. The car can carry all the stuff (5 people, 5 24-inch suitcases). We can go up the mountain without having to change cars. We can also climb up to take pictures on the roof. She can speak English. She can recommend Unseen attractions, take pictures repeatedly, recommend restaurants, and help translate Georgian with locals. —- 📌 Importantly, when we go on a trip and someone runs up to us to take pictures or call us to get in their car, the guide will help us to brush it off and say that we are with them. It takes about 3.5 hours to go north from Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, by shared bus or marshrutka. The church is located in Kazbegi, about 10km from the border with Russia. Kazbegi is the name of the area, and the name of the village where tourists stay is Stepantsminda. Because it is a mountainous area at an altitude of about 1,700m, it is cool even in midsummer, and the weather is unstable, so weather forecasts are unreliable. When visiting, don't forget to bring a removable jacket and rain gear. You can get from Stepantsminda to Gergeti Trinity Church by taxi, but if you want to fully enjoy the rich natural beauty, hiking is recommended! It took about 1.5 hours one way, and I was able to climb even in my familiar sneakers. *The route from the church to Mount Kazbegi, which is about 5,000m above sea level, is a full-fledged mountain climbing course. It took about 15 minutes to get to the top of the mountain, 30 minutes to see it, and 15 minutes to come down. If you’re planning to visit here for a quick getaway from Tbilisi city, its advisable to take a day tour because they will stop by few other places that considered as must visit in Georgia like Ananuri Fortress and Russia-Georgia Friendship monument. They can also drop you in Gergeti village if you’re planning to stay for few days. If you keen to drive from Tbilisi it will take around 4 hours but you have to be an expert of driving as the road is full with lorry and sometimes sheep too. The hike is a bit difficult at the beginning before you reach the main road, but it's worth the effort. You also have the option to take ride up or down, or both for extra money. There is no entrance fee or any payment needs to be done. I won't advice you to drive all the way up with your car. You can park and take another 4x4 van or hike. Keep traveling and enjoy

Rooms Hotel Kazbegi is 5 stars hotel surrounded by snow mountains. We had such a wonderful stay!! The room was in good size, not spacious, but not too cramped either. The view from the room was absolutely beautiful. But I think the bed and pillows were not that comfortable (comparing to other 5 stars hotel). The lobby and the restaurant both offered stunning view of snow mountain. Breakfast was delicious. It was a buffer but everything they put on was tasty and seem like a high quality food. Dinner was also delicious and not expensive. The highlight of Room Hotel, for me, was outdoor hot tube and indoor swimming pool. It was very special, nothing like I have ever seen before. I can spend a week here and not get bored. Noted: Mountain view room is 70 USD more expensive than the one with no mountain view.

And indeed it is ancient, since it was built in the XIV century. When enemies were attacking, all the valuables from all over the country were brought to this place. The locals believe that it’s saint and actually magical. And this is really unexplainable and indescribable experience when you get up there to the church. You literally smell the the spirit of antiquity. Even though there are lots of tourists there, parishioners and church workers look like they still live in the older days. This place made a strong impression on me. It’s a pity the time was limited, but I’m happy I got the chance to see and actually visit it. It’s a perfect place to just sit, relax, reflect, and think about eternity. The best way to get there is definitely by car. The car will get you to the foot of Mount Kazbek and from there you can either walk or hire a van that will take you right to your destination.

It’s a small settlement but with lots of things to do. First of all is the view. There are hotels with rooms facing Mount Kazbek. They are quite pricy but the view is absolutely worth it. If you are not willing to pay, you may just take a walk there and chat with some local people. They might even let you ride their horse if you are not scared. Another thing you can do there is #skiing . This is a breathtaking and unforgettable experience to ski through the snows of Kazbegi. Besides, one of my acquaintances who has seen lots of #mountains said that Kazbek is the most mesmerizing one. And it is true indeed.

If you don't come during the snowy season, you can drive up in a sedan. At first, I read that you have to rent a car, but when I talked to the owner of the accommodation, he said that you can drive up. His car can also go up. So, don't worry about the one we rented. The road is a bit steep, so I'm warning you to be careful. But if anyone has driven up a mountain in our country, don't worry, it's easy. Score - 9

After a long, steep climb in 32 degrees, we reached the view point of the glacier below mount Kazbeg. The route is clear and very busy. It can be difficult terrain at times, so walking boots and poles are advised. Climb time from the gergeti church was 2 1/2 hours and 1 1/2 hours descent.
