Yellowstone is known for its incredible geothermal features, and we marveled at the vibrant Grand Prismatic Spring, the bubbling mud pots, and the otherworldly Norris Geyser Basin. Wildlife is abundant, and we were able to spot bison roaming the park, but knowing how dangerous they can be, we wisely observed them from a safe distance inside our car with the windows tightly closed. (We stayed in Canyon Village, super convenient). More options outside in West Yellowstone, but daily commutes eat up time. It’s packed with incredible sights, like the dramatic Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone—those waterfalls are unreal. Mammoth Hot Springs was super cool too, with its colorful, otherworldly terraces. I saw bisons just hanging out near the road and even caught a glimpse of a bear in the distance! The drive itself is really scenic, with lots of spots to stop, stretch your legs, and take photos. It took most of the day, but I never got bored. If you’re in Yellowstone, don’t skip the Upper Loop!
