Columbia Icefield: Board the Ice Explorer (Snowcoach) to access the Athabasca Glacier. Return to Calgary in the late afternoon/evening. Operating notes Ice Explorer operating period: May 1–October 12. From October 13, the tour stops at the glacier viewpoint only; the Ice Explorer is not included. Weather permitting: A light hike (~60 minutes) on the hills/moraines in front of the glacier for close-up views may be arranged.
