Renfe Spanish Large Families Fare

Large families traveling with Renfe in Spain can benefit from 20% discounts for general category families and 50% for special category families on most train services, including AVE and Larga Distancia. These offers exclude AVE International, Avant, and Cercanías services. For single-parent families, discounts apply only to Rodalies trains in Catalonia with the appropriate documentation from the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Renfe Group Fare

Groups of 4 to 9 people travelling on AVE or AVE International trains receive an 8% discount. Groups of 10 to 25 people travelling on AVE, AVE International, Avant, and Cercanías trains can enjoy up to a 50% discount. For groups larger than 25 people, you can request a quote for approval. Refunds or changes to tickets are subject to the type of ticket and may incur a fee.

Renfe Children Fare

Renfe offers a 40% discount on ticket prices for children aged 4 to 13. These children are allowed to select seats on AVE, AVE International, and Avant trains, and they can make changes or request refunds based on the ticket type, which may involve a fee. Children under four travel for free but do not receive a reserved seat. On Cercanías trains, children under six can travel for free without a reserved seat.

Básico

Básico is the cheapest fare on AVE trains. It is not refundable or changeable.

Elige Estándar

Elige Estándar fare on AVE trains is slightly more expensive than the Básico fare. This ticket option opens the possibility of refunds (70% of original ticket price) and one change free of charge along with many additional paid services.

Elige Confort

Elige Confort is slightly more expensive than Elige Estándar. The main difference is that the seats are XL Confort, which are wider and offer more leg room.
