Wanosato

#japantrip "Wanosato is a hidden gem that epitomizes luxury and tranquility. Nestled in a 160-year-old thatched-roof house, this ryokan combines traditional charm with modern comforts. The setting amidst lush greenery and a gentle river creates a peaceful retreat. The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, providing a cozy and authentic Japanese experience. The kaiseki meals were exquisite, with each dish thoughtfully prepared and presented. The hospitality was second to none, with staff going above and beyond to make the stay memorable. Wanosato is a must-visit for those seeking an upscale, traditional experience in the heart of Takayama’s nature."

Nice beef and great town

This is Takayama situated in Hida region, Gifu prefecture. You can take the Hida limited express train from Nagoya and it would take approximately 140 minutes to reach there~ Takayama retains a traditional touch like their old shopping streets. They are also famous for Hida beef! Be sure to try it out over there~ There are also a few ONSEN resorts to enjoy in that area! #celebratewithtrip

Takayama - A hidden gem

Takayama, located in the mountainous Hida region of Gifu Prefecture, is a charming city known for its well-preserved Edo-period streets, traditional wooden houses, and rich cultural heritage. It's a little bit like a little Kyoto. However, if you want to take pictures with fewer people, consider getting up early in the morning :). We chose Takayama as our base the explore the Chuubuu region. Here is our 3D2N itinerary: Day 1: Train to Takayama, visit the Hida Fold village and the Takayama old town. The photos in this article are all in the Takayama old town. Day 2: Visit Kamikochi (very beautiful in the autumn) Day 3: Visit Shirakawago - A UNESCO World Heritage Site located about 30 minutes from Takayama, famous for its traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses. #japantrip

a nice little cafe by a parking lot

The light roast espresso/cappuccino/latte is easily the best cup of coffee I've had in my life, and I've had plenty! A very small cafe shop near a parking lot. Ordered two, one is iced American and another one is dark roasted. Both are very good. We got a pour over with the Marysabel Caballero blend (Honduras beans). Light, very citrusy (didn’t taste any milk chocolate though), and an herby finish. I really appreciate that they recommend drinking it out of the ceramic cup to preserve the delicate, fruity flavor. The location is beyond a parking lot, so just look out for people milling around a parking lot with ceramic or glass cups of coffee. #japantrip#coffeelovers #couplestrip

Takayama - Quaint Old Town in Gifu

#wheretogo Located in the Gifu Prefecture, Takayama is a rural traditional old town surrounded by nature and mountains. Beautifully preserved buildings, dated back to olden days could be found in this old town with the beautiful Miyagawa River flowing across the town. Sanmachi Old Town consists of 3 main streets with the houses and stores preserved and maintained just like back then during the Edo period. You can see a lot of small kiosks and restaurants selling Hida Beef all around Takayama. There are also a lot of people strolling along the river and across the bridges. There are 2 morning markets in the town, where the Miyagawa Morning Market is along the river.

飛驒の里

飛驒の里 - 高山市

It takes about 40 minutes to walk to Takayama Station. This area has beautiful old villages, traditional cottages, and a beautiful little lake in the middle. Please note, I went to work before I was there, but the next time I was there, I was a little short. When the train leaves Takayama Station, the 8-minute bell rings. The image of the arrival of Hida is a miniature Shirakawa town, but the impression of the village has not faded from the carpet. The bottom of July is gone, the weather is hot and rainy, and it is lucky. If you have a written record, you can also receive mail from the small station. Slowly and slowly go, each person's small time mail cannot be done, even though the region is not big, but the value of the engagement can be obtained. The most important thing is that when winter comes and the world is covered in snow, others will provide free shoes and leasing services, and snowy people will travel in the snow.#飛驒の里 從高山站要步行約40分鐘。

Nagoya and Takayama Trip

Nagoya and Takayama Trip

This time, I chose to go to Nagoya! At the airport, the must-buy souvenir is, of course, Nagoya shrimp crackers. Then, you must try the eel rice at the famous Japanese restaurant, Houraiken! The eel is grilled over charcoal, highly recommended. On the second day, I chose to drive to Takayama. The top choice for food is Hida beef sushi! The old-fashioned streets and the Takayama morning market are must-visit attractions.

Avoid the crowds 🌸 Nagoya's hidden gem for cherry blossom viewing - Shoryu-dori.

Avoid the crowds 🌸 Nagoya's hidden gem for cherry blossom viewing - Shoryu-dori.

Introducing a great place in Japan for cherry blossom viewing during off-peak season: Nagoya and Shoryu-dori. Recommendation reason 1: The scenic spot is less popular, avoiding crowded tourist attractions. Recommendation reason 2: The cherry blossoms bloom late at high altitude, about 1-2 weeks later than Kyoto, making it suitable for off-peak travel. 🔅Nagoya is a big city in the central part of Japan, but there are relatively few scenic spots. Many tour groups will only visit or pass by here; in fact, Nagoya itself is a famous historical city (the castle tower with cherry blossoms is no worse than Tsutenkaku), and it is also a tourist route in the central part. The starting point of the road, along the road are Takayama Furukawa (the location where your name was filmed), Baichuan Township (the location when the cicadas cried), Kanazawa (Little Kyoto) If you have a budget of 3 days, you can walk through Shirakawa Township; budget 5-7 day can continue to go north 🔅This line can go to cherry blossoms and hot springs in April. If you are lucky, you can see the snow scenery; if you are lucky, you can see the cherry blossoms under the snow-capped mountains (Shirakawa Township is high in altitude and you can see the snow-capped mountains) 🌸There is a direct bus from Nagoya to Shirakawa Township. It takes three hours by car, you can go back and forth on the same day or you can choose to stay for one night 🔅I booked a B&B in Baichuan Village at that time, which is the real gassho house (the gassho building here is a world cultural heritage). It is the original grass-roof house and heating system), the advantage is that you can go to the viewing platform to see the night view (the latest bus departs before sunset, you can’t see the night view), and you can watch the sunrise during the day; we were lucky to see the snow scene, and the owner of the homestay also Will introduce a lot of folklore knowledge and teach us local musical instruments (but all in Japanese) 🔅 Most of the accommodation in Shirakawa Township of the tour group is in a hotel a few kilometers away from the village. The conditions are much better, but you can’t see the night view. I came here after watching the ancient horror anime "When the Chilling Cries". I was scared when I checked in at the shrine at night [JoyTears] There is a hot spring in the village that closes after 10 o'clock, and there are few people and it is almost reserved (because the guests are only tourists who live in the village). It is the most primitive and comfortable hot spring I have ever soaked in! 🔅Shirakawa Township also has a direct bus to Takayama. There are scenic spots such as Miyagawa Morning Market, Takayama Jinya, and Takayama Shrine. Take JR to Takayama Furukawa Station, which is the filming location of "Your Name" 🔅JR continues northwards to Kanazawa. There are Kenrokuen, a famous cherry blossom viewing garden, Kanazawa Museum of Art, etc., and there are gold leaf delicacies to eat. It is a very prosperous and western city 🔅 You can buy a pass for the entire Sholongdo itinerary. There are bus, JR, bus + JR options. It is a relatively small and rich route with high cost performance

At Motoyu Magokuro, a hot spring hotel in Fukuji Onsen, Takayama, Japan.

At Motoyu Magokuro, a hot spring hotel in Fukuji Onsen, Takayama, Japan.

Photo taken on November 5, 2014 I highly recommend this hot spring hotel in the Japanese countryside. Some camera photos. Motoyu Magokuro is a great Japanese-style hot spring hotel in Fukuji Onsen. I highly recommend it. During the autumn foliage season, it's best to book three months in advance. The rooms are large and beautiful, the hot springs are comfortable, and the food is delicious, especially the Hida beef, which is truly top-quality beef. November 5, 2024, from Nagoya to Takayama, 2 hours and 50 minutes by express bus; from Takayama to Fukuji Onsen, 1 hour and 10 minutes, 4 hours by bus; plus transfers, it takes nearly 4.5 hours. Magokuro (Motoyu Magokuro) is a high-end hot spring hotel that I carefully selected from the five hot spring villages in Okuhida Onsen. Otherwise, why would I take a 5-hour bus ride and spend a lot of money to book here? Once you experience a Japanese-style hot spring hotel in the mountains, you'll be reluctant to leave, and it will become the biggest temptation for me to visit Japan again. What does a hot spring hotel offer? The one-night, two-meal style represents Japanese hot spring culture. The rooms are tatami-matted, modern, and comfortable, with beautiful autumn foliage views outside the window. There are 8 indoor and outdoor baths, all with natural hot spring water, without any cold water or non-hot spring water added. The hot spring water here is rated as drinkable. Motoyu means that the hot spring water source is right here. This hot spring hotel is rare in that the temperature of the flowing spring water is just right for soaking, and the spring water flows continuously, making it a high-quality hot spring worth experiencing. My companions had no experience staying in a Japanese-style hot spring hotel, so I persuaded them to soak naked in the public bath. The best outdoor baths are all public. This hotel also has two private baths, which do not require reservations or fees. True high-end comfort should be like this. Even in the public baths, you hardly meet other people. My sister and I had the place to ourselves for an hour, with no one else, so I could take photos. In addition to the hot springs, the service at the Japanese-style hot spring hotel is also highly commendable. My companions praised them many times today. The ultimate service is not just about attitude, but also about details, such as after finishing a meal, when we opened the door, our slippers were neatly arranged. I can say that if it weren't for the hot spring hotel, I wouldn't have the motivation to visit Japan again and again. It's so much fun and enjoyable.
