Thepleela Temple

#Travel to save the world Wat Theplila, or previously known as Wat Tuek, is a third-class royal temple of the Mahanikaya sect, located on the banks of the Saen Saep Canal, Ramkhamhaeng Road, Hua Mak Subdistrict, Bang Kapi District, Bangkok. 📍Address: 48 Ramkhamhaeng Road 39, Hua Mak Subdistrict, Bang Kapi District, Bangkok 10240 https://maps.app.goo.gl/kVHt84fPUme83XLn7?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy Wat Theplila was built during the reign of King Rama III, around 1833, by Chao Phraya Bodindecha (Sing Singhaseni) while preparing an army to conquer the Vietnamese and Khmer. During a rest stop along the banks of the Saen Saep Canal, soldiers found a standing Buddha statue in the walking posture, Sukhothai art style, approximately 1.20 meters high, which they brought to be enshrined on the banks of the canal. Later, a temple was built and the Buddha image was invited to be the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall, and the temple was named “Wat Theplila”. #WatTheplila
