The Atomium in Brussels, Belgium, was an aluminum building built for the 1958 World Expo in Brussels. From then on, a stunning work of art was born. The Atomium is 102 meters high and consists of 9 hollow metal spheres with a diameter of 18 meters. The Atomium magnifies the crystal structure of iron 165 billion times. Half a century later, it was rebuilt with stainless steel replacing the original aluminum shell, and the Atomium has since become a landmark of Brussels.
