My Favourite Free Place In Cardiff, The Incredible National Museum Of Wales

Cardiff is the capital of wales and although it’s relatively small compared to other British cities it has a lot to offer visitors. My favourite thing to do in the city is visit the National Museum Of Wales, and the best thing about it a it’s totally free! Located in the civic center next to city hall it’s a short walk from the city center and its main transport hubs. It’s also very close to Cardiff castle and Bute park, two other highlights of the city. The museum currently has a full scale replica of a willy mammoth in its main hall and some temporary exhibits about photo journalism. There is also a seasonal exhibit about it the history of hip hop in Wales, very niche but interesting. The museum is famous for its art collection which was donated in the early 20th century by two of its main patrons - the ‘blue lady’ being the most famous. The painting is just back from loan and is back to being the centrepiece of the main gallery. The museum also has impressive ceramic, ornament and furniture collections which are displayed throughout the various galleries. For families and children the lower levels have an amazing natural history area that features dinosaurs really, due to the surprisingly high amount of fossils found in wales.
