By 9 AM we left the village and followed the first portion of the Mt. Babag trail. After about 20 minutes, we veered off onto the 5‑Towers route: a route known for its unestablished passages, thick bushes, and occasional navigation challenges—but oh, the thrill of blazing your own trail ! Nature’s Test This trail spared no mercy: expect relentless uphill climbs for 4–5 hours, direct sun exposure, sporadic muddy ground, and sharp vines that leave their souvenir scratches . Don’t be surprised if you encounter cows (and their landmines) or giant centipedes along the way . The Summit Experience Finally, after negotiating bends, towers, and confusing forks, we reached the peak—a grassy mound with sweeping 360° views of Cebu’s urban sprawl on one side and rolling green hills on the other . The expansive openness means intense sun during the day, and winds that can threaten even a sturdy tent at night . Bocaue Peak is rough around the edges—but that’s exactly where its charm lies. It’s a compact yet challenging hike right on Cebu’s doorstep, perfect for testing your endurance, navigation skills, and grit. The reward?
