Wat Chedi Yot, officially known as Wat Photharam Maha Wihan

#VisitChiangMai Wat Chet Yot, or officially known as Wat Photharam Maha Wihan, is a third-class royal temple located in Chiang Mai Province. Location: 90 Moo 2, Superhighway Chiang Mai-Lampang, Chang Phueak Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province 50300 (near the Chiang Mai National Museum) Opening-Closing Hours: Generally open daily from 06:00 - 18:00 Important Information: * Wat Chet Yot is an ancient temple that is over 500 years old. It was built during the reign of King Tilokarat, the 12th king of the Mangrai Dynasty in 1998 (1455 AD). * The name "Chet Yot" comes from the shape of the great pagoda with 7 spires on the main building, which was influenced by the Mahabodhi Pagoda in Bodh Gaya, India. * Inside the temple, there are 70 bas-relief stucco images of deities (Thewada) decorating the outside of the temple. Which is beautiful and unique * In 2020 (1477 AD), this temple was the venue for the 8th world Tripitaka Council, the first in Thailand. * It is an important temple for those born in the year of the Snake because the sacred relic of the Snake is the Bodhi Ballan, the Maha Bodhi Chedi, which is similar to the Chedi Chedi. * The remains of many ancient chedis and artifacts have been discovered within the temple grounds. * There is no entrance fee, but donations can be made to support the temple's maintenance.
