Artistic Treasure - Mogao Caves

The Mogao Caves, located in Dunhuang, are a shining gem of world cultural heritage. This artistic treasure spans over a thousand years, from the Sixteen Kingdoms period to the Yuan Dynasty, showcasing a remarkable integration of architecture, sculpture, and murals. Many visitors come to admire this cultural marvel, especially during holidays when only emergency tickets might be available. Since I traveled during the off-peak season, it was not the busiest time. Although there were still many tourists, I was able to easily purchase regular tickets, which allowed me to visit eight caves. A dedicated guide provided detailed explanations, offering deeper insights into the exhibits within the caves. Before entering the caves, visitors watch an introductory video to gain a general understanding of the Mogao Caves. After the guide's explanation, visitors can explore on their own. Friendly reminder: Photography is not allowed inside the caves. Protecting cultural relics is everyone's responsibility.
